Introduction This essay is mainly based on the four major developmental theories: Freud’s theory of psychosexual development, Erikson’s theory of psychosocial development, Piaget’s stages of cognitive development and Lawrence Kohlberg’s theory of moral development. The main aim of this essay is to explain four major developmental theories and explain that how I am going to practically apply these four major theories in my real life teaching. This essay includes a brief information about each stage and also I have explained how we can practically apply these four major theories in our real world teaching. Christine says “teachers who apply development theories in the classroom create an environment where each child feels appreciated and is comfortable with learning new things and building relationships with peers without fear" (Christine, 2010). So I would like to explain how I am going to practically apply these four major theories in my real world teaching. Freud’s Theory of Psychosexual Development Michael Monet states that psychoanalytic theory was developed by Austrian neurologist Sigmund Freud. Psychoanalytic theories seek to understand how and why humans think and behave in certain patterns from infancy (Monet, 2015). An example of a psychoanalytic activity is the question and answer game.
