Friar Lawrence, a priest in Verona, had a big part of the play, and may be the reason for Romeo and Juliet to lay still forever in their graves. The friar was the one that devised the plan to fake Juliet’s death, but ran away in cowardice when he was afraid. Friar Lawrence was depended on by Romeo and Juliet with their secrets even though he was the only adult trusted in this situation other than the nurse. Friar Lawrence made rash decisions without thinking of a back-up plan. Friar Lawrence is to blame for their death.
Imagine a trusted counselor who betrays others by giving terrible advice. In Romeo and Juliet written by William Shakespeare, a similar situation occurs among Friar Lawrence, Romeo, and Juliet. The opposition believes that Friar Lawrence would not be responsible and it would be Romeo and Juliet’s fault due to do the several years of the hatred toward the two families. Friar Lawrence would take most of the blame for the tragedy of Romeo and Juliet because he was an adviser to them and he was the one who gave Juliet the idea of drinking a 42hr sleeping potion which was not a good idea. He did everything he could to save this relationship but did he ever think twice before doing it? The Friar knew what was going on between Romeo and Juliet yet, he didn’t tell them to slow down, sit and talk to them about their relationship or try talking with both families and try to end the feud between them (if that was the case). He should’ve done something to prevent this from happening. And also, he shouldn’t have given the sleeping potion to Juliet.

Out of all them Friar Lawrence is the one I chose because, first the advice he gave them throughout the tragic love story wasn’t fairly well, secondly how he pushed them in the wrong direction, and lastly the poison he gave them. I think that Friar Lawrence, Friar John, and Lord Capulet are to blame for the deaths of Romeo and Juliet. Friar Laurence is the pastor that marries Romeo and Juliet. He plays the role of a person that Romeo and Juliet can confide in. He is not on either side, the Montagues, nor the Capulets. Friar John is Laurence’s brother, who doesn’t play much of a role in till the end of the story. Friar Laurence gives the note for Romeo to Friar John, and tells him to bring the note to Romeo in Mantua. Lord Capulet is Juliet’s biological father, who does not play much of a father in Juliet’s life. I believe that they all three are to blame in the deaths of both Juliet, and also Romeo.
