Have you ever read or heard the story of Romeo and Juliet? It is a tragic story about a girl and a boy who fall in love with each other, and at the end they end up killing themself. It was tragic because there were a total of six deaths including the main characters who were the ones who fell in love, Romeo and Juliet. They were from two different families who did not get along and hated each other. Because of the families hate Romeo and Juliet were not accepted to be together and which made one of their reasons to kill themself. Why is Friar Laurence responsible for all the deaths? First and foremost,Friar Laurence agreed to perform the marriage of Romeo and Juliet. For example,he knew marriage was a bad idea because their families were sworn enemies. Similarly, the friar recognized that the relationship was moving too fast and did nothing to stop it. Finally,Friar Laurence also knew Romeo was in ¨love¨ with another girl just that …show more content…
To prove my point,Friar Laurence should have gone to Mantua to talk face to face with Romeo about Juliet's plan, and how she was really not dead. As another Illustration, Romeo believed the word of his servant and took off to buy a poison to kill himself besides Juliet's fake dead body. Also, when Friar Laurence asked Friar John to deliver the card to Romeo, he could have at least the next day went to talk to Friar John and see if the card was delivered but didn't. Furthermore,Friar Laurence should not be forgiven. For instance,Friar Laurence was with Juliet when she woke up from the sleeping potion. Therefore He should have done something to prevent Juliet's death. In addition, he never should have given the sleeping potion to Juliet. Because of that Romeo and Juliet died. Lastly, his thought of marrying Romeo and Juliet to bring to the families peace and to end their hate between one another was wrong. After all, his thoughts led to the deaths of Romeo and
Juliet hated the fact that she had to marry someone she didn’t love so she was willing to take a chance on dying in order not to marry him. Friar Lawrence and Romeo should have known better than to try and deceive Juliet and her family. They should have been more aware of the consequences of their actions. In the end, their actions led to tragedy and heartbreak. Juliet was not blameless in the situation, but she was a victim of circumstances created by the two men.
Even though Friar Laurence was trying to do the right thing for everyone, he still put Romeo and Juliet’s life in danger. Act V Scene 3 line 158 Friar Laurence tells Juliet that she can stay and then he leaves, “Stay not to question, for the watch is coming. Come, go, good Juliet. I dare no longer stay (Shakespeare 383).” Friar Laurence leaves Juliet there so he isn’t questioned about the death of Romeo and Paris.
When a young girl comes to ask him for advice, he decides to explain a way for her to persuade her loved ones into thinking that she is dead by giving her a potion that would make her fall into a death like sleep. He gives her this deathly potion that could potentially harm her without realizing the death he will cause because of it. He also decides to send a letter to her husband explaining what is going to happen without taking into consideration that there might be a way quicker way for news to travel. This resulting in Romeo not receiving the news of the plan before the news of Juliet’s ‘death.’ Friar Laurence could have easily avoided all of these problems if he thought ahead like a responsible adult should.
Friar Laurence marrying Romeo and Juliet is one of the things that got them killed because it got them too attached to each other which later led to Juliet killing herself. What Friar Laurence should have done is refuse to Marry Romeo and Juliet because then they wouldn't have spent so much time together
Romeo killed himself believe that Juliet was dead. Romeo also killed himself because he thought who was life without his beautiful Juliet. Friar should have been more harsh on Romeo since he is the guy and should think more mature than Juliet. Romeo could have been smart to get with his parents worst enemies but like he is always waiting to find a time just to see Juliet. Romeo should have been more organized with the things Juliet said to him.
Firstly, Friar Laurence is the person who is most to blame for the deaths of Romeo and Juliet because he gave both of them bad advice. He told Romeo to visit Juliet’s room on the day he was banished because he was lovesick for her, even though Friar Laurence knew it could end in death for Romeo. “Friar Laurence: Take thou this vial, being then in bed, and this distilled liquor drink thou off” (Shakespeare,
The first mistake that most people would assume Romeo made was requesting Friar Laurence to marry him and Juliet “Hence will I to my ghostly friar’s close cell,/ His help to crave and my dear hap to tell” (II,ii,191-192). Romeo’s supposed mistake is rushing into the idea of marriage and that’s how he messes up, but this action would not have been a mistake if it weren’t for Friar Laurence who agrees to marry them in secrecy. The second misconception about Romeo is that it’s his fault that Tybalt and Mercutio died, and it is true that Romeo says “Either thou or I, or both, must go with him” (III,i,91), before killing Tybalt. Although if Friar Laurence had never married Romeo and Juliet, Romeo would’ve stood up for himself against Tybalt and at least one death could’ve been avoided.
While this choice led Romeo to kill himself. Then by association
Friar secretly married them knowing something could go wrong but did it thinking it could end the feud between Romeo and Juliet's family. Things did go wrong when Juliet's dad wanted her to marry someone else, Friar gave Juliet a sleeping potion to make her look dead and avoid the arranged marriage.
Friar Laurence caves in pretty easy after Romeo explains why Juliet is the one. Readers would think that he
As they arrange a marriage behind everyone’s back, everything seems to be testing them; including a fight that broke out and ended in Tybalt’s murder and Romeo being banished from his hometown, Verona. Juliet could not go without being with her love, Romeo, and quickly had to find a way to be with him before her other marriage that her father arranged for her took place. As the friar arranges a plan for the two star-crossed lovers to reunite, things don’t work out the way they’re supposed to and end in the deaths of both characters. In Shakespeare’s, “Romeo and Juliet” Friar Laurence is to blame for Romeo and Juliet’s deaths because he is devious and has a poor planning ability.
Romeo and Juliet: Friar Laurence is to Blame In Romeo and Juliet, Friar Laurence plays a major role in the deaths of the pair. The Friar is a member of the Order of St. Francis, a group of wise and generous priests, Romeo and Juliet trusted Friar Laurence and his insight, turning to him for advice, and solutions. However, Friar Laurence’s rash decision in marrying Romeo and Juliet, his reckless plan for rescuing Juliet from an arranged marriage with Paris, and his fear of committing sin all added to the deaths of Romeo and Juliet. He was there throughout Romeo’s and Juliet 's lives; he married them, came up with a plan to keep them together, and was a friend throughout their tragedies. Friar Laurence, through his lack of good
Throughout the play "Romeo and Juliet," Friar Laurence is seen as a sympathetic character who tries to help the young couple. However, his actions and decisions ultimately lead to their tragic demise. The Friar's misguided advice and reckless behavior are the primary reasons why Romeo and Juliet died. Firstly, Friar Laurence should never have agreed to marry Romeo and Juliet in secret.
He is to blame because he marred them too when he clearly knew Juliet parents did not know this was happening and they did not give proof of any of this happening. Friar Laurence knew that Romeo was in love with Roseline that morning, then few hours later he was telling Friar Laurence to marry him and Juliet. For example, it sates in document C in the note, “Just after losing interest in Rosaline, Romeo asks Friar Laurence to marry him to Juliet”. Friar Laurence is also to blame for the death of those two because he tells Juliet that she should fake her own death so she can avoid marrying Paris.
Furthermore, I also believe that Friar Laurence is guilty because, He went and married Romeo and Juliet in secret. In act 2 scene 6 is where he marries Juliet to Romeo. He knew that they just only met the night before. Even though his intentions were good he acted to hastily. He hoped by marrying the Romeo and Juliet he could end all the fighting.
