the Friar gave Juliet a potion. The potion was going to put Juliet to sleep for 48 hours and it will look like she is dead, everyone will think she is dead but Friar Lawrence, he did not tell Romeo of his plan which was the biggest flaw in the plan. That is the biggest reason why Friar Lawrence is to blame for the deaths of Romeo and
The book Romeo and Juliet by William Shakespeare, there are six deaths. Decisions Friar Lawrence made throughout the story made me believe that he is to blame for all of the deaths in Romeo and Juliet. Friar’s interference in the feud between the Montagues and Capulets made things worse even though he was just trying to end the feud and unite everyone in love. “Whether your intention is to help or hurt, you never know if the outcome will be what you intended it to be.” -Molly
Have you ever wondered how it felt to be forced to be married at the age of 13 years old? Most would say no. Juliet’s father wanted her to marry a man named Paris. However, Juliet had fallen in love with Romeo and did not want to marry Paris. I claim that the families themselves are responsible for their child’s deaths.
Love resembles a fire, difficult to start, easy to set off, throughout Romeo and Juliet's journey, Friar Laurence is the water, setting off their love with the worst decisions he could possibly make. In The Tragedy of Romeo and Juliet written by William Shakespeare, occurs many different scenes portraying the story of two star-crossed lovers, hence the name, to their lamentable death. But throughout this whole play, Friar Laurence was easily the magnet for the most chaos between their love, making very unintelligent decisions that lead to their death. Although Friar Laurence seems very helpful, he easily proves to cause the most disorder causing the inevitable death of Romeo and Juliet. Friar Laurence admits countless times he couldn't help Romeo with his love affair, but the main problem was improper plan making, which lacks a large extent of time and thought.
Romeo and Juliet After all the tragedies in Romeo and Juliet who is to blame? In Romeo and Juliet by Shakespeare there are a lot of different characters you could think to blame. Romeo and Juliet for disobeying their parents rules, Juliet’s family for not talking to her, Romeo’s friends for not trying to stop him. But, Friar Lawrence is the character most to blame for the tragic events in Romeo and Juliet because he married the couple without their parents permission, didn’t help them go down the right path, and not telling their parents about all the plans that had been made.
Juliet goes to Friar Lawrence to set up a plan to get the two lovers back together. A little bit of miscommunication and things go very wrong. I blame Friar Lawrence for the deaths of Romeo and Juliet because he gave Juliet a potion and that is how the miscommunication started. The reasons why I blame him for this is because he trusted a young girl with a potion that had a chance of killing her, instead of making
William Shakespeare once said, “These violent delights have violent ends. And in their triump die, like fire and powder. Which, as they kiss, consume”, to describe his play “Romeo and Juliet”. Romeo and Juliet is the story of a girl and boy who fall in love after one night at a party and they decide to marry each other. Their parents are complete rivals so it made it impossible for them to be together with support from their families.
Juliet was arranged to marry Paris days after she and Romeo were wed. Friar Lawrence saw the tragedy in that event “O Juliet, I already know thy grief”(4.1, 47). Due to the fact that Friar Lawrence saw the issue, he was compelled to make a plan to help Juliet avoid the arranged marriage. “Hold, daughter. I do spy a kind of hope, / Which crave desperate an execution / As that is desperate which we would present /
Friar Lawrence provides misguided advice as a mentor, initiating the demise of Romeo and Juliet by encouraging their marriage. Romeo is sorrowful following his change of heart with Rosaline, which causes Friar to question Romeo and Juliet’s marriage due to his quick shift in relationships, but he encourages it anyways. This causes Friar Lawrence to think, “Holy Saint Francis, what a change is here! / Is Rosaline, whom thou didst love so dear, / So soon forsaken?” (II.iii.65-67).
Romeo's all consuming love for Juliet convinces Friar to marry the two lovers (89). This marriage causes emotional attachment and Juliet may not go to certain extremes in different circumstances. Friar Lawrence gives Juliet a potion that makes her appear dead (185). He tells her he will send Romeo a letter informing him of their plan. Friar neglects to send the letter quick enough and Romeo rushes to see if his love Juliet really is dead (223).
After they decided they wanted to get married right away, Romeo and Juliet go to Friar’s cell to get married. Friar first questions the love because Romeo was in love with another women only a few hours ago. He only agrees to marry them because he thinks it will end the family tension. “In one respect I’ll thy assistant be; / For this alliance may be so happy prove / To turn your households’ rancor to pure love” (II.iii.90-92).
The question of who is most responsible for the deaths of Romeo and Juliet can be complicated. Almost everybody in the play can be blamed because everybody has pitched in a little. There are many characters in the play by William Shakespeare who wronged Romeo and Juliet. The characters that contributed the most to Romeo’s and Juliet’s deaths are Friar Laurence, Lord Capulet and Paris. First of all, Friar Laurence is responsible for the death of Romeo and Juliet because he has done some stuff that Romeo didn’t know about.
“And this distilled liquor drink thou off; When presently through all thy veins shall run. A cold and drowsy humor, for no pulse,” (S.S, pg. 453). Friar Lawrence quoted that he would help Juliet fake her death. This is why Friar Lawrence is the one to blame for causing the most trouble in Romeo and Juliet. Yes, there are many other characters in the story to blame, but Friar Lawrence helped with a series of events that led to Juliet's death.
Lord Capulet was one of the individuals that contributed to the termination of Romeo and Juliet’s lives. Being irate, Lord Capulet forces Juliet into a dilemma by saying, “But fettle [her] fine joints ‘gainst Thursday next/ to go with Paris to Saint Peter’s Church, or [he] will drag thee on a hurdle thither.” (III.v.154-156). Juliet characterizes as a loyal and obedient daughter, she always wants to please her parents whenever she can. This puts tons of pressure on Juliet’s decision.
Lord Capulet said, “But woo her, gentle Paris, get her heart./ My will to her consent is but a part” (Shakespeare I.ii.16-17). However, later in the play, Lord Capulet was very upset that Juliet had refused to marry Paris, saying, “Unworthy as she is, that we have wrought/ So worthy a gentleman to be her bride? ...
