Reflection: Friday Night Lights
1) What were you/your group responsible for in the preparation of Friday Night Lights? My group and I were responsible for the creation of posters and banners to be put up around the school. We spent most of the class time thinking of ways to advertise Friday Night Lights to the public; for instance, we decided to put together two different posters — one for field hockey and the other for football. Moreover, we painted a banner to be displayed by the main entrance. The purpose was to bring Friday Night Lights to students’ attention through artwork, in addition to providing the Social Media Committee visuals for their Facebook posts.

For example, in the early stages of planning, we got off to a slow start. We were uncertain as to which pictures we should use for the posters, and as a result, posters were printed the week of the event. The banner was put together shortly after — with the help of other groups — and was mounted in the front foyer on the Thursday before Friday Night Lights. The entire process of executing our tasks was particularly prolonged and sluggish; however, my group persevered. As the event grew closer, reality hit us and we, in a frenzy, scrambled to complete everything on time. Overall, I believe we did a satisfactory job in completing our assignments, although it could have gone better with more preparation.
3) Identify one additional task or job you would have given your group to complete which would have added to the success of FNL. Explain in detail. There is not one specific task that I would have given my group to complete; however, if I could do things differently, I would have organized my group in a more effective manner. For instance, each member of the group had the freedom to work on anything they wanted to. The choices were to help edit the posters, search for previous FNL pictures, and/or paint the banner. Nevertheless, the problem soon dawned on me that not everybody was contributing, thus, leading to low performance efficiency. I should have assigned each member

One of the challenges in preparing for the event was working alongside individuals whom you’re close to. It was quite difficult separating the friendship from the working relationship; for instance, in cases where I had to ask somebody to focus on our assignment, I was worried if they would get upset or if they would take me seriously. Alternatively, it was tough giving orders to classmates who I felt were more superior in their own ways. Fortunately, throughout the organization of this event, the doubts I had slowly faded away as I became more comfortable with my

Would I recommend the book? Yes i would because it is inspiring, faithful, and strong. Friday Night Lights was written in 1990 by Buzz Bissinger. The story is about a high school football team from Odessa, Texas. This team strives to make a run for the Texas State Championship.
Friday Night Lights, by H.G. Bissinger, follows the Permian Panthers, a successful high school football team in Texas, while they do everything in their power to win the state championship. Near the beginning of the book, we learn about the star running back on the Panthers, Boobie Miles, and how he has college coaches all over the state who are offering him scholarships to come and play for them. Unfortunately for both Boobie and Permian, Miles injures his knee before the season even starts which forces the team to fall back on the second string running back. Boobie’s knee injury was not the only thing that bothered him, he deals with a lot of racial discrimination also. “The black population in Odessa was quite small- about 5 percent” (102).
You could improve your close reading section by mentioning the other ways people still got to work. Also, you could mention the other people who were important to the success. 13. Document J: How complete, specific, and detailed are these answers? (Lowest/1=
Coach Gary Gaines. In the movie “Friday Night Lights” has a speech or two throughout the movie. “Being Perfect” is the speech that is really appealing to my eye. “Being Perfect’s” purpose is to inform you that it doesn't take much to be perfect. This speech in not your normal locker room speech.
I read the book, Friday Night Lights, which was published in 1990, and watched the movie, Friday Night Lights, which came out in 2004. The book was written by Buzz Bissinger. The character that I will be comparing and contrasting is Boobie Miles. The scene that I will be comparing and contrasting is the final game. The book and movie are similar in a few ways but are different in many ways.
The Unexpected That Changed My Life for the Better Friday Night Lights not only refers to the stadium that football players play in, but it also refers to every Friday night in September through November. That simple phrase brings back several memories, that carry emotional weight. Memories that are exciting, awe-inspiring, and even painful, and frustrating. The poem “Friday Night Lights” by Gerald Locklin summarizes some of the emotions that come with playing a sport, and brings about a deeper thought process. Being a part of a sport becomes your life, it teaches life lessons, helps build your personality, and shows you passions you never would have dreamed of.
The memory of each student’s accomplishment will forever be overshadowed by the mess of the Induction Ceremony that was originally meant to acknowledge them. I believe that the event could and should have been more smoothly conducted, for the sake of all involved. However, although the Honor Society Induction Ceremony was disorganized, I am still very honored to have been granted this prestigious award and would not have changed my decision to strive for it, if I was given the chance to begin
Saturday Night Live (abbreviated as SNL) is an American late-night live television sketch comedy and variety show created by Lorne Michaels and developed by Dick Ebersol. The show premiered on NBC on October 11, 1975, under the original title NBC 's Saturday Night. There were a few things that I could have worked on from the start. There are many areas in which my success profiler said that I needed to improve on. On area of the field would be the fact oh me doing more extra things for JROTC. I also think that I have tried to improve on this with helping
In “Friday Night Lights” the progress to achieve goals are disrupted by the conflicts that character’s have to face. Boobie Miles is the top HS recruit in the country for his position, but his entire life was changed after a terrible career ending injury causes him to change his goals. In the text people would comment Boobie without football he’s nothing because he just didn’t have the intangibles to be a regular person without football “Boobie Miles without the ability to carry a football in his hand, might as well get a broom and start preparing for his other destiny in life- learning how to sweep the corners of storerooms.” Boobie would then have to sit out a couple of games due to the injury which would give him a lot of time to think
Football is obviously an integral part of our nation’s identity. It’s the one sport that absolutely dominates the weekend, whether it be college football on Saturday, or professional on Sunday. However in some places in this country, the game of football is all that a community has. Award winning journalist and author H.G. Bissinger described in great detail such a community in his 1990 non-fiction book “Friday Night Lights.” Throughout the entirety of the book, we learned about what life was life in Odessa, Texas during the 1980’s.
As with any type of group work, disagreements are likely to surface; but that’s why I have experience managing large groups of people and dealing with problems and complicated ideas. If needed be, I will step up and make myself useful, whether it is in a classroom setting, a lab, or the workplace. I am also determined to work side-by-side with people who have the same fascination with academics and who want to see the same change in the world as I do; but first, I have to start by graduating from
In the past, Tyler the creator’s much of music has been ostracized from a large portion of the Hip Hop community. His first three projects were labeled by Hip Hop fans as, weird or mad. Some people even called it blasphemous or satanic music. The vast majority of the opinions made by people were from people with very basic understandings of what exactly Tyler was writing about, while others based their opinions off ignorance. Consequently, his music rarely made it to radio.
At our first few meetings, team building was key. In an effort to overcome the initial shyness, we took the time to understand and get to know our fellow team members; in doing so, establishing a welcoming and encouraging environment for everyone to share their ideas whist too ensuring everyone felt appreciated. Getting the team to gel was essential for the team to get results. We met at regular intervals, usually weekly, to discuss and reassess our progress. However, finding the time to meet proved quite difficult, between everyone’s busy schedules and with the plenty of other assignments we all had going on simultaneously.
