Depending on the situation, betrayal over all is when a person has two personalities / two face. *Betrayal is when one person disrespects and acts different toward another person which resolves into complications within their friendship. *Another act of betrayal is when a person unfriends another person but that other person is not fully aware so they think they have a wonderful friendship but in reality that person never was their friend. According to Dictionary. com, betrayal is defined as to deliver or expose to an enemy by disloyalty.
The first time this is shown is when Amir and Baba are planting tulips together and Amir asks if Baba had “ever thought about getting new servants” (89). Hosseini is emphasizing Amir’s desperation to get away from Hassan, a constant reminder of his past mistake, especially when Hassan attempts to rekindle their friendship. This highlights how Amir always opts to take the coward’s way out because instead of talking through the problem with Hassan, Amir chooses to get rid of the problem. After Baba adamantly refuses to fire their servants, Amir decides to take another approach to dispose of the problem himself, once again cowardly. When Ali and Hassan go grocery shopping, Amir sneaks into their “living quarters” and “lift[s] Hassan 's mattress and plant[s] [Amir’s] new watch and a handful of Afghani bills under it” (104).
He made these decisions which at the time didn't seem all that bad but as the witch trials started those decisions became the critical pieces that damned him and his wife. He didn't want to go to church because he thought the church was all about money, he plowed on sunday because his farm wasn't yielding a lot of crop. He made all of these conscious decisions that ultimately killed him. In conclusion, these are just a few ways that John Proctors actions, speech, and decisions in Acts 3 and 4 illustrate a man in conflict with his
I hated when my younger sister disrespected my parents. I hated when my older sister’s “so -called” friends made her feel inferior and left her out of everything. I hate when my family are divided by anger or having a huge fight. There are many things I hate, but what I hate the most is the all the hate in the world. It sounds crazy to say that I hate all the hate in today’s world, but I have a lot reasons to feel this way.
Consequently, they become ignorant enough to believe two plus two equal five because the party has taken their though production. As shown in Orwell’s novel, “It was terribly dangerous to let your thoughts wander when you were in public place … with a suggestion of abnormality … [it] was itself a punishable offence” (Orwell, page 62). They hid behind curtains of loyalty to Big Brother to not be punished for their thoughts which is a very personal part of a person’s belief. Take their inner thought you take their
Amir thought Hassan as “the lamp he had to slay.” on the contrary, his guilt is relentless, and he recognizes his selfishness abates his happiness. “I almost told her how I’d betrayed Hassan, lie, driven him out, and destroyed a forty year relationship between Baba and Ali. But I didn’t.” Amir has listed the things that he done, which made his shameful and guilty sentiments, compare to younger Amir, the older Amir realizes how dire the consequence of his action before and understands his cowardice and he feels regret. Still, he does not have the courage
He sees this same look in Hassan's eyes. This soon caused Amir to stop watching and he tries to decide what to do and because he was a coward, he betrayed Hassan and ran without telling anyone what was happening to Hassan. Another time betrayal was portrayed was when he broke his promise with Sohrab. Amir describes Sohrab’s reaction as, “His voice was breaking, tears pooling in his eyes.” (Hosseini 341). Amir was finally getting close with Sohrab and then, Amir breaks his promise causing Sohrab to feel as if Amir betrayed him.
Creon almost seemed like he wanted Haimon to be angry so he put Antigone in the vault. He couldn’t see that Haemon was in love and Antigone was just trying to honor the dead because of his hubris. Creon also says, “My own blind heart has brought me from darkness to final darkness.” This shows he knows he didn’t use his intelligence to solve his problems. He was already heading the wrong direction with his pride and it finally was too much. Creon’s hubris has not let him effectively deal with his
Emphasizing their different values, Nick’s discomfort with meeting Myrtle for the first time showed through in an attempt to distance himself, ‘“Hold on,” I said, “I have to leave you here.” “No you don’t,” interposed Tom quickly. “Myrtle’ll be hurt if you don’t come up to the apartment.” (28). “Well, i’d like to, but----” (28). Nick claims to be one of the few honest people he knows, and his honesty shows through with his distaste for Tom’s dishonest relationship with Myrtle. Nick realizes that he is different, and comes to dislike the people he is surrounded by, like Tom, Jordan and Daisy, but believes Gatsby is different.
“Things come apart so easily when they have been held together with lies,” Dorothy Allisa once said. When a person realizes part or even their whole life has been based on lies, even if it is to protect them, they lose trust, and don 't feel safe around the people who betray them. In “The curious incident of the dog in the night-time,” a novel by Mark Haddon, Christopher´s life experiences a drastic change after the death of his neighbor´s dog. Christopher is not like any ordinary kid. He doesn 't like to interact with normal people, he can´t identify when someone is speaking sarcastically or if they are making a joke.
“Me ‘n Simon built the last one over there. That’s why it’s tottery.” (80) Ralph has a meeting to talk about how the group is not doing well. He talks about how he and Simon had to build the shelter for the boys because they had left their jobs to play. The boys weren’t committed with their jobs and that was what made Ralph upset. Ralph was building the shelter for the littluns because they were afraid of the beast.

Journal entry #8 I went out for supplies today with Vicky. As I was climbing into the house that I knew was going to be vacant a boy named Eric pulled me in. I nearly had a heart attack over it. He is a part of the Resistant so I am forced to be nice to him, even though he stole my scarf from my neck and then acted like I was a monster after he realized who I was. I hate that he did that but I can kind of see where he is coming from… I just wish more people would quit acting like I am the bad guy.
“Why, then, had he come hither? Was it but the mockery of penitence? A mockery, indeed, but in which his soul trifled with itself. He had been driven higher by the impulse of that Remorse which dogged him everywhere” (Hawthorne 138) here dimmesdale can 't face the justice of what he has done wrong which is why the author called him a coward and is the reason why he kept his secrets because he is a coward to admit it to and face the consequences which is why later the guilt of keeping them eats him from the inside. Dimmesdale also kept his secrets to keep his reputation as the revered so the town won 't judge him.
In conclusion, people in The Crucible lie for their personal interests, their tunnel vision haunts them in the sense that it comes back to get them in the end. This is shown by the fact that john died because he was not willing to live for false sins. In his shoes choosing to die was easy, choosing the harder right between the easier wrong is all depending on how you look at it. The consequences from the wrong choice will make your life harder while sticking to the harder right choice will make your life
