1Abstract
The aim of this research work is to desulfurize indigenous coal by one of the demineralization method to make it feasible for use in power generation and cement industries. Froth flotation method is an efficient method for reduction in sulfur and ash content. The underlying principle of the said process is formation of the froth upon contact of frother with coal particles. Pine oil dosage being the control parameter, the analysis showed that maximum sulfur reduction of 33 % was obtained for 30 minutes flotation time, reducing sulfur content of cherat coal sample from 3.6 % to 2.4 %. It was found that froth flotation caused significant reduction in sulfur content of Cherat coal, yet the power generation requirements of sulfur content

Sulfur being hydrophobic in nature is removed by froth flotation process. Generally this process is used for the coal particle size less than 0.5mm. The carbonaceous mineral constituents of coal being hydrophilic in nature, can be made to preferentially attach to fine bubbles and float to the surface of a dilute slurry, where they can be removed, while in contrast the low carbonaceous inert minerals of the raw coal do not attach to the bubbles [3]. Flotation reagent cost adds up to the processing cost which makes the flotation method more expensive than other physical methods. Yet, to remove inorganic materials viz. pyritic sulfur, the most suitable process is flotation to clean coal provided it is liberated in feed …show more content…
The more the flotation time, an enhanced desulfurization of coal occurs. A lot of work has to be done further by changing the amount and the type of frothers activators and collectors.

For this lab, zeolite and magnetized zeolite were synthesized and compared with charcoal to find out with would be the most effective in the sequestering of Procion Red dye. Finding the concentration and absorbance of each zeolite, magnetized zeolite, and charcoal, along with a calibration curve, the best adsorbent is determined. Charcoal was the overall best sequestration of the Procion Red dye, since the adsorbent was highest compared to the others. Introduction Pollution has increased in the environment over the years, so the purpose of this experiment is to find the best adsorbent of chemicals to reduce the pollution.
The purpose of this lab was to be able to use physical characteristics to determine the identity of an unknown compound. The data from this experiment classified aluminum as metallic; ascorbic acid, paraffin, palmitic acid, sucrose, graphite, and water as molecular; sodium chloride as ionic. In order to determine this, 3 tests were conducted. The first test was to test the conductivity of each substance at room temperature. In this test, only graphite and aluminum conducted.
Section 3 demonstrates the examination addresses that can be tended to and the investigation criteria followed in this review for assurance of fundamental papers. Segment 4 demonstrates the examination of results that we acquire in section3. Section5 exhibits the answers to the research questions by checking on and dissecting the chose papers and illustrating their primary components.
Characteristic Property- Test 2- Density Materials: Triple Beam balance, distilled water, graduated cylinder, unknown 6 Procedure: first we found the mass of the empty graduated cylinder and then its mass with the now distilled unknown. After subtracting the mass of the graduated cylinder, we were able to find the volume. For every 1mL=1cm³ so there we had the volume found with the graduated cylinder. We divided the mass by the volume in order to get the density Data: We found that the density of our unknown was 0.76 g/cm3.
Chemistry 1051 Portfolio Over my time in chemistry 1051, I have learned many valuable lessons, and skills. Accurate recording of data was one of those skills, as was creating a well-organized lab write up that correctly laid out the process we completed. During the very first lab we were also given the task of creating our own method to test the density of a peace of glass. We decided to both measure and weigh the glass, effectively testing the density, and afterwards critiquing both methods and choosing the most effective one.
Hydraulic fracturing accesses this better alternative to coal and thermal
Additionally, during testing, it was discovered using the pH section of the testing
During this time, rises in the demand of coal-powered steam engines led to a rapid increase of coal mining (Wrigley 54). As the evolution of the market system took place, the small scale techniques that the industry had been using were not supplying a sufficient level of coal output needed to maintain the high demand in the manufacturing and transportation sectors. This deficiency prompted a transition for the coal mining industry that involved dangerous mining techniques and labor
“A painting showing an early factory plant shows that the smoke rising from the factory was black and full of coal ashes, affecting the air. Also, because the factory is next to water, it can be assumed that the factory has dumped into this water, causing it also to become polluted”(Document 3). Yes, wonderful products came from these factories; things like clothing and cars, but coal was being used to power these machines that produced. Black coal ash rose up into the sky and was being breathed in by the people and animals. Coal is not the best thing for people’s lungs.
The coal could be used for fireplaces. One more resource I would use would be water, water is used for a lot of things like drinking, showering and also cooking One job I could have would be a photographer capturing wildlife in places like wetlands and forests. Some activities I would do there with my family going
One of them is burning coal. The encyclopedia defines coal as a solid fossil fuel formed from the remains of land plants that were buried 300-400 years ago and exposed to intense heat and pressure over those millions of years. It is burned in power plants to generate electricity. Data says that 44% of the United States electricity comes from burning coal. The National Mining Association reported that in 2009, 55.4 percent of Maryland’s electricity came from it.
The overall purpose of this lab was to develop a lab procedure in order to separate and measure the mass of each containment obtained the provided sample. In addition, this experiment was conducted in order to provide the EPA with a plan to remove all contaminants from a heterogenous mixture which purifies the water, making it accessible for the society. Furthermore, the sample consisted of the following contaminants, sand, rock, wood, plastic, salt, water, and an unknown metal. When it came to separating the contaminants, the wood and plastic were taken out through the use of tweezers, while the rocks were separated by decanting the mixture of sand and rocks from the water.
This industry not only provides the populous with inexpensive power but also creates a steady employment option. Besides an increase in the greenhouse gas, carbon dioxide, the mass accumulation of coal ash and its leaks and spills into local rivers negatively affect the environment (“Energy-Related”). According to Earthjustice, “North Carolina generates over 5.5 million tons of ash per year” ("Coal Ash Contaminates”). In Eden, N.C. in 2014, the largest coal ash spill occurred, releasing 39,000 tons into the Dan River, which supplies drinking water to surrounding communities, a habitat for aquatic organisms, and recreational activities (Gallucci). Coal ash, also known as coal combustion residuals or CCRs, contains hazardous byproducts from power production, including arsenic, lead, mercury, and chromium, that can poison drinking water sources for humans and devastate wildlife habitats (“Coal Ash Basics”).
