Funding for our local Humane Society is an issue that requires the community’s attention immensely. The Humane Society is a non-profit animal welfare organization dedicated to preventing cruelty and suffering inflicted on animals. They provide a safe haven to the animals in their care, but they are only able to do so with proper funding. Funding our Humane Society is crucial in promoting humane values for the benefit of all animals. Financial hardships have burdened our Humane Society for as long as anyone can remember. There is simply not enough money circulating to feed, shelter, and provide for the hundreds of animals that call the Society home. Luckily fundraisers such as spaghetti dinners, basket raffles, and benefit walks are held
Not only do these clubs recognize academic excellence, they also provide many opportunities for community service. Blood drives, food drives and Operation Christmas Child are only a few of the projects that we participate in throughout the year. I am
But the major way they educate is by talking about all the different types of cruelty animals have and can go through. Last Chance for Animals works on a lot of animal rights issues, and is committed to spreading the true information about animal abuse in today 's society in order to improve the way in which animals are treated
Economically for a business to survive anything must be done no matter the cost even if it means cutting corners by violating animal rights through means of captivity, holding them against their own will. This is the basis of reasoning to why Zoos and aquariums have such little regard towards the basic necessities of these creatures. These facilities have proved to be a very profitable business and a very successful industry as they flood billions of dollars a year into the United States economy alone. Their presence heavily contributes to the flow of capital in the economy, “AZA-accredited zoos and aquariums in 2013 to be $17.2 billion”
For a long time there has been the debate if Zoos, Circuses, and aquariums violate human rights considering that in certain cases they help animals from extinction. While that could be the case we also see that animals are unhappy, mistreated badly, and also they are only there for the sole purpose of human entertainment. On a personal belief I think that they do violate human rights, and they should be shut down. While they can save animals, there is way too much more evidence leaning towards it being bad. Zoos, circuses, and aquariums should be shut down.
The most basic way to help animals is to report cruelty. When visiting zoos, here is what to look for. Do the animals live in bad conditions, look sickly, or are they being abused, if so, report it to a wildlife protection group? Another great way to help is to spread the word about animal captivity.
Small acts of kindness can make this happen by supporting people and families through donations, bring people happiness, and help people in poverty through tough times. Kindness can be shown in many ways such as donations. Donating to organizations such as the salvation army, goodwill, habitat for humanity, and many others can help families and people save money on clothes and other items donated to those places. “One of the best gifts you can give to an animal is a donation of a blanket to your local animal shelter during the winter months.” - Carrie Ann Inaba.
The Tiger Booster Club meet in October and planned their meals for the Tiger Jamboree. The group plans to serve a noon meal and supper on Friday, December 18th and a noon meal on Saturday, December 19th. The group also discussed selling Tiger apparel and gift certificates for apparel or Italian Cream Sodas at the Christmas Bazaar. We will look into the possibility of having a booth, but if not we sell apparel and stadium seats during the Jamboree as well as gift certificates for stocking stuffers.
If you are a pet lover, and you do not donate to the SPCA, you are left with a feeling of shame for your inability to donate. Guilt like pity, go hand in hand to achieve the same ultimate goal. A monthly donation that turns into a yearly donation, that turns into hundreds and thousands of dollars to save animals from
The committee members dedicate their school year and summer raising money through various fundraising efforts,
For these reasons, among others, zoos are ultimately more detrimental than helpful to the animals in them. In some instances, it is realistic that the staff at these zoos may give insufficient care to the numerous needs of these wild animals, not out of the desire to harm them, but potentially out of the lack of the right tools these animals need. There are also often not enough funds to supply each animal or species with their own unique requirements. Large, untamed animals cannot be expected to thrive in enclosures, however, acquiring larger areas of land for them or specialty food for their specific diets would substantially increase the budget of a zoo.
“If we are justified in keeping animals in zoos, it must be because there are some important benefits that can be obtained only by doing so” (Animal Rights 152). In the economy that we live in today, we all know that humans can be very cruel towards animals when it comes to earning money. For entertainment, we pay money to observe animals in a small enclosed area as they slowly suffer. Zoos do not benefit the society and should be banned altogether. People may argue that zoos are very educational and safe to all animals and humans, but those statements are only made to help profit a zoo.
The Inhumanity Zoos all around the world are being criticized over the treatment of their captive animals. The animals are being treated unjustly everyday. By going to zoos, people are unknowingly encouraging it. Animals are mistreated in many different ways based off of their living conditions, what they eat, and so much more. These things can lead to behavioural and physical health issues in both the animals and/or visitors.
To keep and improve, society will still have entertainment and businesses will profit from these performances including animals. The AZA contributed more than 100 million to fund conservation projects 2011. AZA certified zoos and aquariums have funded over 2,500 conservation projects in more than 100 countries and spend on average $160 million on conservation initiatives yearly. Further legislation, as well as adjustment of the zoo model, can address welfare issues without abandoning the entire wildlife park concept in total. Prohibiting all types of animal confinement for the safety of animals can be beneficial towards most animals, however, obviously affect the economy negatively.
Which is really good because they aren't just using the animals as a prized possession, they don't just want money they want to watch the animals grow and be a flourishing species. That's what people don't understand these days "I think the central ethical justification for zoos and aquariums in the modern world is their commitment to conservation," is what Dr. Hutchins said The Zoos also support conservation by educating the public, raising money for conservation programs, developing technology that can be used to track wild populations, conducting scientific research, advancing veterinary medicine, and developing animal handling techniques. Hutchins Also said this "We need to know about the biology of animals to conserve." Which is true honestly because we need to know what the animals need and what to look for when the animals are sick and need the care that us as humans can provide to
Paws for the Cause As an organization founded primarily for the happiness and well-being of both humans and animals, Paws for the Cause has done just that. Across the globe, animals are being left for dead and forgotten, along with humans. Many people don’t realize that animals and humans are alike in the way they can feel loneliness. Walking down the road, how many people do you see on street corners holding up signs asking for any change you can spare? Now imagine that times 5.
