Alpha Hydroxy Acid (AHA) : A chemical exfoliant commonly used in cosmetic products in order to remove dead skin cells, treat acne, smooth and firm the skin, and reduce the appearance of acne scars. Examples of AHAs are : glycolic acid, lactic acid, mandelic acid, tartaric acid, and etc.

Bentonite : A ingredient that forms due to the breakdown of volcanic ash. Masks often contain this so it can be used all over the face in order to assist in normalizing oily skin. It can also help eliminate oil that blogs pores and reduce enlarged pores.

Benzoyl Peroxide : A very common antibacterial medication used to treat acne. Common side effects of using benzoyl peroxide include dry/peeling skin, tingling sensation, redness, and etc. …show more content…

Konjac sponge : Originated in Japan and derived from the roots of the konjac plant, the konjac sponges are gentle cleansing sponges used for facial or body purposes.

Lactic Acid : An AHA (alpha hydroxy acid), which comes from milk or synthetically made. It exfoliates your skin in order to get rid of the dead skin cells. It is highly recommended for sensitive skin types.

Lauric Acid : A fatty acid that is found in coconut oil and other natural fats. Due to its scent it is often used to add fragrances to cosmetic products.

Limonene : A chemical found in citrus fruits and plants that is commonly. It helps other ingredients in a product’s formula better penetrate the skin, but is best to be avoided for it is a common skin irritant.

Linalool : It is a fragrant which has a floral smell similar to that of French lavender. It can be a potent skin irritant and allergen.

The ingredient is usually used as an emollient, emulsifier, and a moisturizer. PEG-100 Stearate is a highly comedogenic ingredient. If you see the letters PEG, it probably means that that the ingredient is comedogenic.

pH Level : A measure of an acidity or alkalinity of a substance is. Any substances that contains a pH level of less than 7.0 are considered acids, meanwhile pH levels above 7.0 are bases. High pH products can harm the skin’s acid mantle and cause acne formation.

Phormium Tenax Extract - This extract comes from the harakeke plant in New Zealand and is known for its very hydrating ability on the skin. It naturally reduces puffiness, hydrates, and calms redness on the skin.

Propanediol : It helps the formulation of the product to penetrate the skin better. Due to its moisturizing properties, it is a good product for those who want an extra boost of hydration onto their skin.

Propolis : Collected by bees, this substance has antibacterial and anti-inflammatory properties for the skin making it good for troubled skin.
