The emotions that your feel everyday play a huge role in the foods that you choose to eat. If a person could control their emotions, then they could control the foods that enter their systems. There are 6 basic emotions that a person can feel throughout the day; happiness, sadness, surprised, fear, anger, and disgust. All of these emotions change can change a person’s blood glucose. Blood glucose can raise or lower depending on a person’s mood which can then control the urge to eat certain food(s). Mild cases of low blood sugar can cause you to feel nervous or anxious, while more severe cases can lead to feeling irritable or tired, notes the National Diabetes Information Clearinghouse. Along with mood swings, low blood sugar levels can cause sleepiness, confusion, weakness, sweating, hunger and other symptoms (Macht 2000). This was the first step taken toward figuring out how emotions can control the type of food that you choose to eat. “Emotion regulation involves altering when and how people feel and express their emotions”. Emotion regulation can be used to change a negative emotion. It can also be used to make a person happier. Both ways of regulation “help people adapt their responses in order to maintain positive interactions with others”. If emotional regulation can control how you feel about interacting with people then it should be able to control how you feel about healthy foods and make you want to consume them over sugary

When my blood sugar doesn’t fall within the tight ideal range, my ability to function is impaired. My blood sugar levels can give me headaches, blurred vision, and an upset stomach.
