GALAXY TOYS CASE STUDY FranJoleen Wooten Background Since 1969 Mr. Bart Aldrin started his position as a shipping manager at Galaxy Toys at the Toledo, Ohio Branch. However, Bart’s prior employment was at International Shipping which dealt with the shipping of large containers. Bart started out as a clerk, although with his skills and knowledge in managerial tasks her was quickly promoted to supervisor. Because of his experience as the supervisor at International Shipping, he was then granted management position at Galaxy Toys, where he enhanced the assembly of toys and increased the output in the shipping department. Scientific Management: managers prudently selected employees that have the right skills, confidence, and experience, and stopped incorporating the “rule of thumb”, workers were watched to ensure tasks were being performed. This theory was based on the worker efficiency and productivity. With Contemporary Schools of Management Thought: managers and employees could meet on a level of openness of opinions.
