Gallstones are hardened deposit of digestive fluid that can form in your gallbladder, which is a small pear-shaped organ on the right side below the liver. Gallstones usually are as little as small grain of sand and as large as a golf ball. Typically there are no symptoms for gallstones unless they block the duct. This will cause sudden and rapid intensifying pain on the right portion of the abdomen as well as the center of the abdomen just below your breastbone. You may also experience back pain in the shoulder blades and or pain in your right shoulder as well as nausea or vomiting. There are two kinds of gallstones that can form in the gallbladder which are Cholesterol gallstones and Pigment gallstones. Complication of gallstones can be inflammation of the bladder, blockage of the common bile duct, blockage of the pancreatic duct, and gallbladder cancer. You may prevent the chance of getting gallstone by not skipping meals; lose weight slowly and by maintaining a healthy weight. How to determine gallstones is by your doctor may recommend an abdominal ultrasound to see if there is anything that seems like gallstones. Another way is by to test to check if your bile ducts for gallstone that may be causing a blockage. A third way they may test you is blood test that may reveal complications you may have. One type of treatment is removing the gallbladder, known as cholecystectomy; this is where they remove the whole gallbladder this will prevent for any future gallstones to reappear. Another way is they may prescribe medications that can help dissolve the gallstones. Gallstones are not fun once they decide to cause you pain!-
