Gary Schlack was born and raised in southeastern Michigan. His father “Big” Gary owned a small home repair business and was a veteran that served during the Vietnam War. His mother Karen was a homemaker and is the proud daughter of a Big Three tool-and-die machinist that served oversees during World War II. As a teenager, Gary was a regular volunteer in the community, led the debate team, and was elected class president his senior year of high school. After graduating from high school, Gary studied political science and secondary education at Michigan State University. As a member of the Michigan State University College Democrats, Gary became an outspoken student advocate for public education and for a government that works for working people. By the end of his sophomore year, hostilities in the Global War on Terrorism reached their height and Gary decided delay his education to enlist in the United States Army. Today, Gary is a manager in the transportation industry. His responsibilities include negotiating, meeting customer shipping demands, and developing strong relations with local small business owners by learning about their everyday struggles and successes. Today, Gary and Bridget live in Plymouth with their two adopted feline friends, Snowshoe and Sandy. They are members of the Canton Democratic Club, Northville Democratic Club, and the Plymouth Democratic Club. Additionally, they are parishioners at Our Lady of Good Counsel Catholic Church in Plymouth. Gary is running to be our State Representative to give our community a voice. He believes it has been far too long since our community has had a seat at the table. He will work hard every day to earn your vote to offer our community the best representation possible in Lansing.
