Everyone loves water and gatorade but the real question is, which is a better choice for kids during a regular daily basis or even during sports. “Sports drinks” like gatorade and powerade are supposed to replenish electrolytes that are lost through sweat, but why do kids need to have 34 grams of sugar and a dose of chemical food dye in order to replenish their electrolytes after an hours worth of practice. After a game, the kids should have water to replenish what they have lost through sweat. In my opinion the kids should be able to choose what drink they want after a game or even practice because since they have been working hard, yes they are losing electrolytes, but water does not provide them back into the body afterwards like a gatorade
My hypothesis: Orange Juice provides more electrolytes than energy drinks, was proved to be true. This leads to my aim of determining which has more electrolytes to replenish the ones you loose as you work out or play sports. The orange juice will replenish your body with much needed ions in a more beneficial way rather than that of processed, flavoured and coloured energy
Gatorade is a better energy drink then Powerade because of many reasons. One reason is because Gatorade is the original and was made first. Gatorade was made in the early summer of 1965, and Powerade was made in 1988. (Heritage, Gatorade Inc.,Powerade History). This shows how Gatorade was made first making it the original and probably the better one. Also Coca-Cola makes many drinks while Gatorade set it’s heart and sole on one thing making only Gatorade for athletes.
Did you know that Gatorade and other sports drinks contain electrolytes that can be used in a battery solution? These electrolytes are the same ones that replenish your body after exercise. Gatorade and other drinks have different electrolyte activity rates. That makes the battery either more or less powerful. A battery can be made with more electrolyte containing materials than you think. A battery can be made with anything that has electrolyte activity.
Energy drinks give us a quick burst of energy when we are feeling tired but which one gives us the most amount of energy? To find out which energy drink would give us the most I am going to test which energy drink has the highest voltage. One of the people I interviewed said that they would like to know which energy drink has the highest voltage. Another person that I questioned said that he doubted energy drinks had any voltage at all. The last person I interviewed asked if energy drinks had a higher voltage compared to water or if they had the same voltage. All liquids have a voltage this is where we get our energy from. The reason energy drinks have a voltage is because of the high amount of caffeine they have in them and the reason water has a voltage is because of the process that water goes through to be cleaned. The water particles rubbing together cause friction giving the water a static electric charge. In order to test which energy drink has the highest voltage to give the most energy I am going to use a zinc nail, copper wire, a volt meter and four different energy drinks and water. I am going to compare the voltage of the different energy drinks to the voltage of water to see whether there is a significant difference between the voltage of energy drinks and water. The energy drinks I will be using are Rockstar, Power Horse, USN Spike and Monster.
Being a person of sports and fitness, the brand ‘Gatorade’ is quite familiar. Gatorade isn't just any sports drink but a sports drink that is known for its exquisite taste and excellent job at replacing ones electrolytes. Gatorade is a beverage most enjoy but for athletes it is practically a blessing. The world known drink motivates and pushes its athletes to go above and beyond and to be sure to hydrate as well. In one of the many Gatorade commercials out there, I was able to see as to how Gatorade used ethos, pathos and logos to both amuse and convince its audience. In the ad I watched, a customer wants to simply purchase a bottle of gatorade but the gas station clerk just won't allow it. After a few moments of the the clerk telling the customer no and giving him factual reasoning, Peyton Manning shows up. The use of ethos, pathos and logos in the ad seems to be an exceptional way of selling the product to the public.
Next , in a text by , Jennifer Sygo titled “Obey your thirst , just not necessarily with a sports drink”. In this text she explains that “For most workouts ,practices , sessions, or games , drinking water according to thirst is usually enough “(2) . Some people need more than water , they need something with flavor to actually quench their thirst . Whereas, in an article titled “powerade and the science hydration” . In this article it talks about Powerades ION4 where is states that “Powerade ION4 contains, four electrolytes -Sodium ,potassium, calcium and magnesium…” (1)
Coffee vs energy drinks, who will win? People drink coffee and energy drinks because they wake you up and they get you ready for the day. Most energy drinks hold 8.4 ounces. On the other hand, coffee has 8 ounces. On the healthier side, coffee only has 1 calorie for 8 ounces while energy drinks have 110 calories for 8.4 ounces. Usually you find both of these items at Wawa. If you want to drink energy drinks I would go with the brand Red Bull. Coffee has no effect on your heart. The reason why people drink coffee and energy drinks because they give you a boost of power. By digesting these liquids you have to drink them. Generally citizens swig a cup of coffee in the morning and energy drinks is for an active sporting event. Personally in my opinion, I rather drink energy drinks than coffee because I don 't like the bitter taste of coffee.
Many consumers agree that energy drinks actually provide the human body with the desired energy. The reason behind this effect is caused by the high amounts of caffeine and sugar. Whenever a consumer uses an energy drink a series of effects begin in his/her body. The organism receives an instant boost as the caffeine successfully manages to block the duties of the adenosine, a chemical located in the brain whose function is involved with sleeping. After the completion of the process caffeine forces part of the neurons in the brain to lighten up, which later on causes the body to release the hormone adrenaline. When the hormone is active it forces the liver to provide the bloodstream with additional
Powerade will contain the most electrolytes as millions of Rands are spent on engineering these drinks to rehydrate athletes as effectively as possible.
Gatorade was founded in the summer of 1965 when a University of Florida assistant coach sat down with a team of physicians to determine why so many players were being affected by the heat and its illnesses. Two key factors were determined by the group of researchers: the fluids and electrolytes lost were not being replaced, and the large amounts of carbohydrates used for energy were not being replenished. The researchers went to the lab and formulated a balanced carbohydrate – electrolyte drink that would replace the key factors the Gator players lost through practice and games. That is how the name ‘Gatorade’ came to be. This commercial has a strong ethos, pathos and logos with professional athletes and voice overs of ethos, music, visuals
Anyone who has read a book to a young child has found the complex topics must be explained or reread a second time so the child can understand. As a child grows older, they become more curious about the world around them. They seek answers to the same questions asked years prior because they seek a greater understanding of a topic. Two authors that match this progression well are Joanne Mattern and Darren Rovell. Joanne Mattern the wrote the biography Robert Cade: Gatorade inventor that includes photographs for a young audience and presents the information so that an inexperienced reader would understand. Darren Rovell, author of the non fiction book First in thirst: How Gatorade turned the science of sweat into a cultural phenomena. Attempts
I tested 4 students by giving two of the four students a piece of spearmint gum and two students no gum during the test. The students with the gum both averaged a 97. Georgia scoring and 97, and Chloe also scoring a 97. The students who did not have a piece of gum during the test both averaged a 94. Emma scored a 100 and Mackenzie scored an 88. This proves that gum relaxes and shows better results during a test. While chewing gum memory is improved because of memory or the hippocampus increases while people chew. It creates more insulin that helps the memory of the brain. Chewing gum increases the glucose level which is fuel for the body and for the brain. It increases the blood flow to the brain which gives you an adrenaline

The principles of using acid catalyzed carbohydrate dehydration as a quantifier was sufficiently communicated, and the possible sources of error that resulted in a relatively inaccurate determination of the total carbohydrate concentration in the soda and Gatorade will be taken into consideration if conducting this analysis in the
