Gender Issues in the Kenyan Education System
Though there has been increased school enrollment of both sexes in the recent years after the introduction of free education, gender equality problem still exists in some regions in Kenya. For example, from North Eastern region, classes are dominated by males than females. Even at high school levels, some of the girls do not join as they are already married and have to sit at home to do their roles as mothers. Gender disparities affect both the boys and girls but the girls are usually more vulnerable (Abagi, 2005).

They may lack the support and encouragement to continue their education. This is especially the case on girls who are expected to do household chores and have no time to study. Teenage pregnancy rates are often very high in refugee and IDP camps, and girls with their own babies may not be able to attend school because of exclusion policies, social stigma, no extended family to provide childcare, lack of appropriate facilities. Others are forced to undergo female genital mutilation and have run out of their homes thereby making it difficult to get sufficient support from their parents to attend school and make their lives better.
Despite the many issues in the education system, the government and other support groups have over the past few years managed to increase the gender balance in the education system starting from the pupils in classes to the staff in schools (Republic of Kenya, 2008).

At most, they cry a little”. Living conditions for these girls are not what we think they are. In fact, girls are put into dormitories where twenty girls might have to live together. Working conditions are even worse . Women mostly work in one hundred degree weather, where textile dust is flowing in the air which can cause permanent lung cancer and eye damage.
Most girls chose stay at home parent as their first choice so they didn’t have to work in hot, stuffy, unsafe factories for twelve hours or more. The only disadvantage of staying at home was that there wasn’t any money coming from the mother. The government believed that boys had more strength. Therefore, having more of an ability to get more work done than girls.
This stanza is implying that all refugees have no English background and therefore cannot "distinguish ESL from RSL". They are completely degrading refugee’s ability to learn a new language and judging their educational abilities based on their past experiences and culture. The poem also mentions in stanza 5 that refugee children have no respect for "institutions". Just because these children may have come from a predominantly violent culture, it does not mean that they have no respect or manners. As a culture, Australia needs to encourage refugees as much as possible.
During the revolution women were responsible for managing the household. Such as making clothes, cleaning the house and taking care of the kids. The women of the era were considered to have no moral ranking. The men were asked to fight wars, there were a lot of different women such as Abigail Adams, Molly Pitcher and Martha Washington and many more. There were also those who would hide their gender in order to fight.
Her Future Some children around the world grew in different environment with many complex problems .some suffer different family problems such as beatings, raping or trauma or hard labor. Most of these children end up taking bad decision such as suicide, abortion or dropping out of school. All these decision delays country development and destroys children future. Most of children bad decisions are as result of both physical and neglect from their families .
Equality among people justifies the development of human civilization. The history witnesses how people mistreated the others and how other people fought for freedom. It proves a permanent truth that the more civilized the people are, the less inequality would be promoted. However, there was no one period in the past, even now, without inequality completely. The slavery issue in the West and the gender inequality in the East both brought unimaginable damage for not only the groups of people who were mistreated, but also the society which is supposed to be peaceful, fair and justice.
Even girls who do enroll in school may have irregular attendance due to other demands on them, and the fact that their education may not be prioritized. Girls are more likely to repeat years, to drop out early and to fail key subjects, and in most countries girls are less likely to complete the transition to secondary schooling. Unemployment in Kenya is attributed to a number of factors that include: rapid growth of the population and the labour force, skill mismatch, information problems in the labour market, structural adjustment programs, slow or declining economic growth, and the labour market setup, among others. High population growth rate in Kenya has resulted in a relatively young population and a large population of youth in the population of the working age (Njonjo, 2010). This increase in the youthful population and increasing labour force has led to labour supply outstripping demand. Consequently, unemployment, especially among the youth, has surged. In particular, high population growth has resulted in higher levels of unemployment.
Gender Equality is the only way forward. What is gender equality? Gender equality is achieved when all genders enjoy the same rights and opportunities across all sectors of society, including economic participation and decision-making, and when the different behaviors, aspirations and needs of women and men are equally valued and favored.
