Gender plays a role for everyone and can be a positive or negative effect on the person or the people around them. I admit I do play the stereotypical gender role towards women and I do not find any problems with it anymore because I chose to be this way and agree with my decision. Since doing gender is all about being and expressing yourself Gender is made by specific behaviours and aspects you live, some being the clothing you wear, the movies you watch and your attitude towards you and to others.
My clothing has changed over the years and has played a big role in the gender I play. When I was a child my clothing was quite ‘Plain Jane’ or what people would call “Tom boy”, I was the kid with jeans and a plain shirt. I was never fully the kid …show more content…

As a kid I watched the cartoons, Disney movies and some scary like the other children which was had a positive effect because when you are a kid, being different and liking other things made you more imaginative, and adventurous. This was considered a reward to me because everyone had roughly the same preferences so there was no one to judge your opinion since they were all similar. When I grew up my movie selection became more widen but still remains pretty similar. I still have the preference for cartoons and Disney but is now getting into horror and what people call ‘Chick flicks’. Being a female, the chick flicks are known as stereotypical movies for women and are very feminine. Because of my movie choices, I have gained a positive and negative judgement. This is a positive judgement because it shows my feminine side and that the movies I watch impact on my life and attitude towards life. The negative judgement is that people, but can mostly be by men, is that they believe watching romantic movies makes you soft, and makes you emotional. This is all true, but it does not make me a weak or soft person that cannot take care of myself and needs a man to help me. Since movies play a big role in how you see the world and gives you expectations on what you want out of life, I admit that movies have even changed my attitude towards other
