George Monbiot (1963) is an investigative journalist, ecologist and book Authors, he is also known for being a columnist for The Guardian, in which the text studied first appeared in October, 2014. Monbiot declares that we are living in the Age of loneliness. We were known as social bees who works together in the society . On the other hand, huge change appeared in our way of living. The age we are entering, in which we exist apart, is unlike any that has passed before. Loneliness has become an epidemic among young adults and spared out in elders’ everyday life where social isolation has become a cause of early death because we cannot cope alone. I surely agree with Monbiot that loneliness is a major problem in our society. However, I don’t think it is the only problem we are facing today in order to call our Age the age of loneliness. First of all, loneliness is one of the main problems in our urban society. People who used to work together are now aiming to gain individualism and independence. Selfishness and egoism are the main adjectives that characterize people’s though nowadays. Family used to be unified and people used to spend time with each other; but now, we, as individuals, tend more to stay alone, pretending we want to have some rest and we just want to relax, without being disturbed or having to communicate with someone. Privacy is the main topic discussed in our lonely Age, where social media, which was created to help people socialize and discover new people, plays a core role in dividing the small and the larger social circle of the individual. In today’s common society, everything seems to be killing us pollution, radiation, toxicity only to name some. We are living in a polluted environment where garbage and diseases are killing us every day and everywhere. Also the selfishness of the people led them to forget the public interest which is the interest of everybody. Maybe it is this loneliness that is killing us indirectly because when we forget that we belong to a group and when we unplug our self from the society we find ourselves lost in a weird world. Furthermore, let’s talk about the wars and the economic crises in the world, that aren’t only caused by loneliness, but rather by the company who produce weapons and by wealthy shareholder who seek opportunity in the world of dirty business. Also we may think about disease and sickness as a normal process that can kill anyone. The truth is that our passionate doctors who spend their time saving lives, are not more than decorated salesmen who see in the Medical field an opportunity to invest, and in the patient a random
