Georgia Tech is filled with opportunities for students to flourish; but the students are some of the many who contribute to the community to make it enriching for many others around them. Not only do I want to benefit from this diverse community, but also support this tight-knit group through spreading cultural awareness, doing community service, and working on research projects that can bring about changes in the society.
I have been training in Bharatanatyam, a form of classical Indian dance, since I was in kindergarten. Over the past thirteen years, it has been a great experience performing at various locations and learning new styles of dance. When I entered high school, I joined South Asian American Student Association and choreographed many Bollywood,

Through SWE, I will be able to motivate females in the Atlanta high schools to pursue a career in STEM, a field that needs more female participation. Not only will I be able to mentor students through STEM, but also have research opportunities. I want to continue my learning in Computer Science and work on research projects that can bring changes in our society. I am learning theory, algorithms, and optimization of runtimes in the Program in Algorithmic and Combinatorial Thinking at Princeton University. I believe as we continue to move more in digital world, we will continue to grapple with issues such as handling larger and larger databases, querying and analyzing data in the most efficient ways and cybersecurity of these databases etc. For example, healthcare and education industries are the critical pillars in our society and economy, and an opportunity to work on the issues that may help healthcare and education industries will be very satisfying. I plan to discuss my research ideas with professors at Georgia Tech and do research projects through either the Undergraduate Research Program or the Research
To me, programming seems to align with everything in my life that was lacking security, normality, and “syntax.” Growing up acquainted with PTSD has allowed me to push through difficult times and stay determined. I believe that a person’s future is not based on the opportunities and privileges given to them but rather, the opportunities that they seek and go after. Therefore, my unfamiliarity with the world of computer science doesn’t stop me from being optimistic with my future scholastic success. I want to excel in a male dominant industry and be able to be in the position to empower other young women to go after their dreams.
Not only am I a dance instructor and leader, I serve as a role model for the younger children within the group. By maintaining excellent grades, travelling the nation for conferences, and being consistently active in the group; I have been able to allow the positivity within me to percolate to the younger students within the
Working for Orlando Utilities Commission is in my blood. Starting with my grandfather working there as a meter technician, and then my father as a lineman supervisor. My father would recount stories of his duties as a lineman at dinner, and intrigued me as a child. However, my education and interests led me a different way. My passion for agriculture and natural resources drove me to pursue a degree in Agricultural Education and Communication with a specialization in Communication and Leadership Development.
The minute I came across the announcement for the NSF REU site on Facebook, I knew immediately that I had chosen the correct major at Florida State University. Like many transfer students, and a distance one at that, I was limited by my selection during the transfer process and decided on Interdisciplinary Social Science with concentrations in Sociology and Geography. The description of the research project on the Citizen Science GIS website put my decision to study ISS into clear perspective when I had the lightbulb moment of why; because I am passionate about people, places, and stories, and that the research tracks are something that would be just as useful in the coastal community of Sarasota where I live. Truth be told, I was not always this passionate about the coast.
Growing up, I was never afraid of being myself. I have a very large family, so I knew how to socialize very well at a young age. Socializing is a huge part of who I am, and it’s a part of my life I will always enjoy. I love meeting new people, because people always differ from one another. I respect the diversity of someone’s culture and background.
Aside from studying diligently, I also participate in extracurricular activities. Before joining Frontier, I used to do traditional dance in my home country since I was 6 years old. The experience I gained from the years of dancing allowed me to choreograph a dance routine for school when I was 13 years old . This opportunity allowed me to refine my leadership and organizational skills. I took upon the challenge and I was able to come up with a creative story through music and movement.
October 2016 I obtain my bachelors degree in business administration. While I was in school, I wanted to continue to work with the youth in the community. So my sister and I created a dance team that is consist of girl ages 6-18. Our dance team is located in Lake City. Dance is an activity that allow the girls to express themselves through
GA TECH Beyond rankings, location, and athletics, why are you interested in attending Georgia Tech? (max 150 words) Interning at the ADAMS Lab at the University at Buffalo made me realized my passion I had for engineering research. Working with Autonomous UAVs I began to understand just how satisfying the element of discovery and how much the rigor appealed to me. I hope to continue working with autonomous UAVs as a researcher in college.
I am interested in attending Georgia Tech because I believe that the university will provide me with opportunities to pursue my studies beyond the classroom. I am planning to study abroad to broaden my knowledge of how art and design are utilized in other cultures. Also, since Georgia Tech is well known for its design school, students are presented with opportunities to design and work with other companies on specific products. I believe the multitude of ways to practice design that the school offers of a good way for me to narrow down what specific product or category of design I want to end up studying. By taking a tour of the School of Design, I could tell that the staff cares about the quality of their students’ education, which is something
I’m applying to the computer science online master's program at Georgia Institute of Technology, especially in the field of machine learning. I believe my extensive research and development in genomics, molecular biology, pharmacy, clinical trial and computer science makes me the ideal candidate for your program. During the past academic and work experience, I have gained hands-on cross-disciplinary experience among various subjects as mentioned above. It has stimulated me to think about how computer science could apply to biotechnology. With the evolvement of machine learning, we biologists can improve the research methodology from the traditional scientific method to the new way to process big data.
Facebook is working with professional organizations and other nonprofit groups to get more girls and minority children interested in science and technology. A major issue facing the industry is the number of female computer science students present at universities. That number has fallen in the last 20 years, when the percentage of women in other industries like biology and chemistry has risen. " Sure, the tech community has come a long way. However, here we are in 2016, and it appears that the ratio
The Georgia Tech community offers man involvement options. The support of staff enables students to venture into entrepreneurship and research as undergraduate students. Student organizations are active in almost every interest. There is an involvement opportunity for almost every student, and each student has the ability to create a new club that interest them. When changing social environments, finding a personal niche is a difficult but crucial step.
I am passionate in joining the exchange to Georgia Institute of Technology (Georgia Tech) is based on the following reasons: Firstly, I believe it is a golden opportunity for personal growth and to gain new perspectives on the globe. Georgia Tech is one of the leading universities in mechanical engineering to do a cultural exchange with my fellow schoolmates are so exciting to me. I have always been told that the US culture is very different to Hong Kong, yet I have never been there and so it will come true for me to get the first-hand experience, by living there for three months. In terms of leadership development, I am going to join the I-house, with a leadership residential program with half as local students and half as exchange students. We all can join various organizing committees to propose and run different kinds of cultural events such as film, sports, cuisines, community services, etc, which we do not have similar kind of organization run for cultural exchange in that diverse areas in HKUST.
I have always had an intellectual thirst for discovery. Consequently, my DNA has been hardwire to ask the questions, “What if? And answer by saying, “Why not?” So to nurture my fascination for science and engineering, I look to Illinois Institute of Technology, a vibrant campus enclosed within a global city with countless job opportunities and internships for its students.
Being good in science, mathematics and having a natural inclination towards programming since early school days has shaped my future ambitions. With a strong determination and a focused goal to become a software engineer, I pursued the Bachelor of Engineering (B.E.) degree in Information
