Strategically, Gilgit-Baltistan is located at the junction of China, India, Pakistan, Afghanistan, and Central Asia. The ancient famous silk route passes through the heart of Gilgit Baltistan. Its geography also makes it vulnerable to spread out conflicts from active militant movements in surrounding areas. The region here signifies the undivided Jammu and Kashmir before partition.
