Jacques Cartier was born on December 31, 1941 in St Malo, France. In Cartier’s early life his father and uncle’s were probably sailors and they taught him how to sail. People now and days believed that when Cartier was a young man he sailed out into the Atlantic ocean to get fish on a daily basis.
Giovanni “John” Cabot was a successful, and adventurous Italian explorer/navigator, who is known for making big discoveries. He is known for discovering and claiming land in Canada, and somewhere in North America off the coast of the Labrador Peninsula. John Cabot was raised in Bristol, England and was born into a wealthy family. His family would buy spices and sell them, (at the time spices were really expensive and rare to find). In addition, just like Christopher Columbus he was search for Asia (but actually founded North America), and was also in search for the Northwest Passage. Most importantly, he sailed for England and King Henry VII paid for his voyages/expeditions. Giovanni Cabot was married and had 3 sons;
The 16th century Spanish explorer, Hernando De Soto arrived in the west indies as a young man and made money in slave trade. Seeking glory and riches, he left on a major expedition in 1538 to conquer Florida for Spain. He and his men traveled throughout the southeastern united states in search of money. In 1541, De Soto became the first Europeans to cross the Mississippi river. De Soto died early the following year.
Columbus day is a celebration of the discovery of a new world that grew to be the one of the most powerful countries in the world. Columbus never gave up when trying to get funding to sail to across the Atlantic. He traveled back and forth multiple time is his determination to create a wealthy colony. Though, like every person, had a flaw, and that was that he was a man of his time. Yet, he was also one of the most motivated and independent people of his time. Columbus day should be celebrated at Highland Park High School because it is honoring the determination that lead to the discovery of the New World.
Christopher Columbus as we know is the historical person credited for the discovery of the New World. Zheng He was a Hui-Chinese mariner, explorer, diplomat and fleet admiral, who commanded voyages to Southeast Asia, South Asia, the Middle East, and East Africa. Each men and their fleets had two completely different reason for their travel. Christopher Columbus purpose was to find a new trade way to the Asian countries. Zheng He's purpose was to enlarge empires control of seaway trade. Zheng He's voyages took place in the Indian Ocean and Christopher Columbus's took place in the Atlantic Ocean. Though their voyages were different they both made a huge impact on the politics, economics and human civilization.
It is because of Christopher Columbus that we know more about how our world is and its history. Christopher Columbus had a huge impact in history and our lives today by sailing and learning more about our land. Some of Columbus biggest challenges were that everyone already had their minds set on how the Earth was and people didn’t agree his beliefs. Columbus had to find ways to sail across the ocean. He discovered things that he came across and accomplished things he set his mind to.

John Cabot was an Italian navigator and explorer. He who was also the first European to discover the coast of North America. John Cabot was born in Genoa, Italy somewhere around in the 1450 and died in 1509 late after his successful voyage he later died in 1509. His father, Giulio Caboto, was a spice merchant. John Cabot had a brother named Piero. John Cabot was 11 years old of age when he learned sailing and navigation from Italian seamen and merchants. In 1471, Cabot was got accepted by the a religious confraternity of St. John the Evangelist.

It wasnt until he convinced the spanish monarchs, Ferdinand and Isabella, to allow him to keep atleast a tenth of what he gathered along the voyage, that he went on his way.

He did not arrive in Asia but he arrived in the Caribbean. Where he encountered the Native Americans. Most people would say this voyage was a success but I’m hear to tell you that, that’s not necessarily the case.

Christopher Columbus was born in Genoa around the year 1451. He was the son of a merchant and as he got older, in his teenage years, he got a job on a merchant ship. Columbus remained at sea until 1470, while Columbus was at sea doing his job French privateers attacked his ship when he was sailing north along the Portuguese coast. This event is a major reason why Columbus turned out the way he did in his adult years. When the French privateers attacked his ship, his ship sank and Columbus found a floating piece of scrap wood to hang onto. As the young Columbus was floating at sea, he eventually floated onto the shore of Lisbon. Christopher Columbus sailed with one-hundred men with the usage of three ships, and once they did, they ended up in the Bahamas. After Christopher Columbus and the men traveled Cuba and the Bahamas, they found an island named La Isla Espanol, which is Hispaniola. In late November of 1493, Christopher Columbus arrived in Hispaniola in order to find La Navidad, which is a fort, only soon to find out that it had been destroyed with everyone killed. He discovered the fort being destroyed and the men killed with his group of 1200 men. When Christopher Columbus was in Port de la Navidad, he knew that he had to behave himself, so he can give a good impression upon his enterprise. His ships were riding in the Province of Marien, which was not a popular land. It did not have stones or any other material to make a building, so he turned back eastward in order to discover a place to build a town.
