Sexism Against Women: Issues With Sexism Against Women In society there is a lot of sexism and ideas of how women should be and how they should act. Telling them what they should wear, what type of jobs they should have, and most people have old school idealistic ideas that a woman’s only job is in the kitchen and daily household chores. But those ideas are outdated and do not belong in the twenty-first century. The short story, “Girl” by Jamaica Kincaid is about a mother telling her daughter how she should act, dress, and how to be an acceptable lady. This is an issue because women should not have to be told how they should be. There are issues with sexism against women and this must change.

Research shows women get treated as inferior, are afraid of getting assaulted, and are told how they should be. Gender discrimination has been a problem for a long time, but over those periods of time women have climbed the ranks and started to become more acknowledged.Some people believe that the topic of diversity is not an issue. That being said women are still treated as an inferior gender and that is an issue. The world is changing and the generations are drastically changing, so it’s time that people change their views and accept the fact that women can work any job, that they can be much more than just a housewife. They can make the family income and they can be much more. Women shouldn’t have to be afraid of being harassed at work or assaulted on the streets, no one should have to feel that way and that is the problem with sexism against
