Kumar et al., reported on “A Study of incidence and factors responsible for dropping out of girl students from Govt. Primary School. Rampur, Barolyawali and Dhanur villages of Sirsa district, Haryana”. DPEP, SIEMT, Bhiwani. The main objectives of the study are to understand the problems of dropouts in the context of school situation, to trace out female dropouts, to highlight some of the important factors of dropouts at primary level of education as viewed by the teachers, to identify the causes and factors inflating on dropouts. evaluated on “A qualitative evaluation study on Village Education Committees / School Committees” The main objectives of the study are to know the perceptions of VEC / SC Chairmen, Head Masters of selected sample schools, villagers and to study the effectiveness of functioning of VEC / SC by adopting observation method. 11 villages were selected from 3 mandals in the Vizianagaram district which included one tribal, one urban and one rural Observation and interview schedule for 33 VEC / SC members, 11 Chairmen, 11 H.Ms, of primary schools and for 67 villagers were made. He concluded that all the areas (rural, urban, tribal) the attendance of VEC/ SC members at the meetings convened by H.Ms was high when invited personally, Students attendance was the main discussion item in the meetings of VEC/SC in all three areas. The agenda for discussion varied from area to area as follows: Tribal Area- enrolment, irregular attendance, drop outs etc. Urban Area- Power supply, conduct of rallies, requirement of additional teachers, action for long absences etc. Rural Area- Completion of construction of school buildings, action on the poor performance backward children, regulating school children, discipline and cleanliness etc. In all the areas conveners (H.M.s) were taking initiatives on both qualitative and quantitative aspects of school development,
