From the moment a child opens their eyes, everything they come in contact with is gendered into two categories; male and female. From specific colors to clothing, certain objects are pushed for children to like based on their sex. These gender stereotypes are extremely prominent in the sporting world. In life females are typically deemed as the weaker sex, in the sporting world they are deemed as the ones who do not have the stamina and drive to compete in such rough sports, such as football or baseball. The stereotype continues on with the idea that all women want is to be a mother and that there is no place for a women to play a sport, but instead they can sit in the bleachers like all the other moms.
They think this because most sports competition to win something, but cheer entertains or supports a group of people. Most cheerleaders say they are because they are scored in performance, but entertaining is not a sport told by ESPN. Remember though cheer is a sport, because parents or guardians have to pay to cheer, and cheerleaders have to be judged. Many people do argue about cheer being a sport. ‘Little Giants’ has shown the characteristic of the main character to be abnormal and changing the gender stereotypes in young audiences’ perspective. Becky were a young sporty girl who’s passionate about football and decided in joinning the local football team, but got denied by the coach because she’s a girl. Later on, Becky convinced her father to start a rival team, but the city can only support one team. To prove her team is better than the other team that she got denied, she began to work as hard as she can to carry the team for a playoff game. The main character influenced children positively, for them to work as hard as they can to fulfilling their dream.
To begin with she is a good sport is that she doesn't give up and even when she is bad at stuff like running. In the story it states “No matter how much she tried, she couldn't run as fast as the other girls” Lupe tries her best and doesn't do good. I bet some of the other kids make fun of her because she isn't as good as them or that she scored a ball in the other team’s goal. Lupe doesn't let that stuff get to her, she works harder. In addition to that she practices for hours, doing push-ups, squeezing erasers and shooting marbles.
This film is made for boys because girls are under-evaluated: they do not develop an important role; they are cheerleaders or someone’s girlfriend. To decrease the number of concussions a year the National Football League must issue more rules and better quality equipment. Despite the tackling and wanting to " knock out " an opponent of the other team, football players need to transition their mindsets to a different objective. Instead of wanting to hurt the opponent or lay them out, just focus on getting them down. Football players must have the mindset to keep their healthy bodies and prevent injuries so that they can continue to entertain, perform, but to mostly importantly win. Football without concussions and even injuries can make the sport more enjoyable for the parent, wives, and children of the players.
