As I got older I realized that life is a long journey that is continuously changing, full of incidents and experiences that force us to evolve and uncover a true understanding of ourselves. Making the decision to give up dance, a passion that had once provided me happiness but then had eventually taken a toll on my mental health, was for me one of the most crucial turning points in my life and has given me a major realization about making important decisions myself. It took courage and readiness to accept change to give up dancing. I learned from it that sometimes letting go of the familiar can lead to brand new possibilities and opportunities of the future. For as long as I can remember, dance was more than simply a passion for me. From my very first ballet class as a young child leading to the countless hours I spent perfecting my abilities and reaching my potential in various genres. It was a way for me to express myself and escape from the difficulties of my daily life growing up. The thrill and comfort of performing on stage became something significant to me. As I got older and continued, the demand for perfection in dancing increased. It was difficult to maintain these unrealistic expectations and the constant pressure of constantly being compared to others, starting to let dance become before school to never let my team and teachers down. What formerly served as a creative and joyful outlet now caused tension and anxiety. This passion that had once motivated me started to fade, and other aspects of my life started to suffer because of this mental strain. This was made far more difficult seeing my teammates continue to enjoy their passion with dancing, and realizing mine …show more content…
Now with the absence of dance in my daily life, I explored new hobbies and found lacrosse. This was a major transformation for me. My lacrosse team provided a strong sense of connection and friendship. As opposed to being compared to and competing with one another, my team cooperated and bonded with one another to work together. This switch allowed for me to have social support, growth, and achievements. Lacrosse's physical activity, support, and opportunities for this growth and achievement make it my ideal sport for me to enhance the quality of my everyday life and mentality. I was granted the most improved player my 2nd year playing and this had motivated me to continue this journey and continue playing. I've been motivated to establish and achieve goals through this sport without the stress and anxiety I used to have. I've been able to increase both my focus and self-assurance because of it. Being introduced to this activity and continuing with it has sparked a genuine realization for me that making big decisions can have profound improvements in my life. This aided in my discovery that I shouldn't hold on to the past for the wrong reasons and that I should give myself liberty to have the control to make choices that will help me move
During this phase, I seriously considered quitting ballet. But I didn't. I don't know exactly what emotion unknowingly poured over me, but it was a kind of hope that didn't translate into words. I knew in my heart that eventually something good would have to come out of the countless hours I spent drowning in weariness and tedium. And then finally, one day my glimmer of hope was transfigured into a beam.
My passions are Lacrosse, Reading, and Family. It’s important to have passions because it makes you who you are. I like lacrosse because it’s a new sport with new rules and new everything to me. I like learning all about it. My team has a lot of people, so I can make new friends.
The activity I enjoy outside of my classes is Lacrosse. I started playing Lacrosse in third grade by joining the Farmington Youth Lacrosse team. Lacrosse is something I care about because it is something I am good at and enjoy playing. I also like being on a lacrosse team because it helps me work together with other people and collaborate on group projects in school. What keeps me playing lacrosse is there is always something you can do better and trying to be the best you can be is fun and challenging.
Lacrosse was seen as a religious and spiritual connection between the people and nature. “The game was known as the medicine game” according to the book lacrosse legends. The game was known to heal and cleanse the
It's hard to stay optimistic in a Challenge, sometimes you want to give up and quit. But in the end you have to stay with it. Whether it be getting a new job, starting college, learning to drive, working in a group you don't want to be in ,and even playing a new instrument. You have to try your hardest to stay together and keep going for your friends, family, and for yourself. One of the hardest challenges for me was switching instruments the end of the eighth grade year for the marching band that next fall.
Local lacrosse players are more than happy to point prospective players in the right direction. Southwest Sophomore and Mills farm resident Brady Shannon backed up this claim, saying “People are completely able to join lacrosse, just show up and you’ll find a spot on the team.” Lacrosse is welcoming to new players of all ages and athletic backgrounds. In fact, local high schools commonly welcome brand new players to their teams. It is a particularly popular option for students looking for a good off-season
The same aggression to improve that I put into rising in ranks academically, I also put into my new sport of choice; Tennis. I have been determined to improve as a player and have thrown myself at any opportunity to do so. This drive has helped me transition from the bottom of varsity to the top-ranked male player and team captain both junior and senior years. I may not be playing baseball today, but I have taken the lessons I learned from leading my team and applied them to other aspects of my life, such as my position as Tennis Team Captain.

The sport of lacrosse has grown exponentially over the past thirty years. Many believe that lacrosse is only growing in the United States, but it is truly a global increase in participation. In college I want to push myself to stay in shape and have people look up to me. To say I played lacrosse in college is something I have always wanted to say. I am a dedicated athlete. Each sport I play I always give 100%. When I earn my spot on the team there will be no question why I am there.
Lacrosse is a wonderful sport to play, lots of fun doing it and lots of fun being a fan too. From the mid-1490s, of just a stick and a net attached to the end and some trees as goals to today's version of playing Lacrosse, it’s all the same sport. Whether it's being a Goalie, Attacker, Midfielder, or a Defender they all help the whole team and play as one team. It doesn't matter if you're young or old or the best player in the world to being a beginner they all to do it no matter if it is for fun or it's your
I claim that quitting dance has shaped me into a better person or has changed my life today because, First of all, I have a chance to try something new that maybe I have never done before. Second, I don’t have to worry about being there at a certain time. Finally I don’t have to cancel anything because I have to be at dance. Therefore those are some reasons why I quit dance.

I have always had a burning passion for dance since I was a young girl. My first time on a stage, I was immediately hooked. The overpowering feeling of a crowd of people watching me as I do what I love, is a feeling I have always admired. Dance has developed my character and personality in many different ways. I have been taught responsibility, discipline, integrity and much more.
