A great terror struck our nation September 11, 2001, two aircraft’s hit the world trade centers, killing 2000 people and injuring over twice as many. A third aircraft flew into the Pentagon while a fourth crashed in a rural area in Pennsylvania. This day will forever be engrained into history as one of the worst terror attacks faced in this nation. Nearly three years later, in an attempt to figure out what happened on that tragic day, scholars came together to discuss the possible parallels between foreign and domestic terrorist. The author, Michael Kimmel, outlines the possible cause of the 2001 attacks and offers us a link between both foreign and domestic terrorism.
One person's freedom fighter is another person's terrorist" is a common statement used to describe the different perspectives about terrorism around the world. A myriad of reasons confirm the incident of 9/11 was definitely a terrorist attack. Firstly, the proceedings that occurred on this day perfectly align with the terrorism definition and secondly, the subnational group created widespread fear. However, there are fewer reasons that some argue that 9/11 was a freedom fight. Firstly, the United State’s abandonment in the Afghan- Soviet War and the type of message Al Qaeda aimed to spread.
Today, our world has to face many crises which can not be solved in a short time such as food, water, economy, and terror. However, the terror tissue is the most challenged thing for all the governments to solve. Since September 11, 2001, not only was the US attacked by the terrorists but the other countries from over the world like Britain, Spain, Indonesia… also became the target as well, and thousands innocent people lost their lives during those surprising attacks of terrorists. Even though after September 11, 2001, US has attacked and destroyed a lot terrorists’ bases in over the world, the terrorists still survive and keep aiming to US and its allies. From the book “War on Terror” of Patrick Coaty, we will be able understand deeply how and
Abstract Domestic terrorism is defined as committing criminal terrorist acts in the individual’s own country against other human life. Such acts are intended to coerce or intimidate the civilian population, influence the policies in government, or affect the conduct of the country through assassination, kidnapping, and mass destruction. These acts occur primarily in the United States (White House Briefing Room Statements and Releases, 2021). These acts can be done because of an ideology or political, religious, and racial reasons.
Rough Draft: After the 9/11 attack many Americans have come to realize what terrorism really is, but for the kids that 9/11 was history to here you go. Terrorism today is the use of violence usually against other countries aimed towards politics. Targeting terrorist leaders might not make much difference, but it is cheap, it is low risk for the United States (Fisher,par.18). According to Max Fisher’s article going after terrorist leaders isn’t always the best, well the U.S. did that for the 9/11 attack, we ended up killing Osama Bin Laden the man who planned 9/11 out. Terrorist groups like the Al Qaeda, ISIS, and the Jihadist are a threat to mankind.

The term terrorism is inextricably intertwined with the notion of foreign actors unleashing widespread disaster on American soil. This notion is not unfounded and carries a very real and very dangerous threat to the US. While the US must of course be constantly vigilant with regard to the threat of an attack emanating from a foreign land, the US must also consider an equally dangerous threat that lurks in our own backyard: the domestic terrorist. Make no mistake, the use of the word domestic should by no means diminish, and should in no way normalize the malevolency these groups perpetuate. One is tempted to limit one’s thinking regarding domestic terrorism to the latest news story and how that may affect the US in the here and now.
After a terrorist attack of any kind there are always consequences that must be faced. Sometimes the point of the terrorist attacks is because the organization wished to send a message or to influence policy in their favor. However, after the 9/11 attacks administrators realized that the United States was not prepared for a tragedy of this kind and had little to no measures to prevent one, this lead them to create new programs and policies. Terrorist organization’s goal often comes down to one of the following: regime change, territorial change, policy change, social control and status quo maintenance. The main purpose of a terror attack may well be to influence public policy.
Homegrown Terror is violent acts committed by citizens or residents of a state against their own people or property within that state without foreign influence in an effort to instill fear on a population or government as a tactic designed to advance political, religious, or ideological objectives. This topic has been one of the most talked about in the presidential race. The politicians in the running, Hillary Clinton and Donald Trump, are often given the question about their solution with homegrown terrorism. All of their solutions that were mentioned on both sides, were both very interesting. But at the end, one of the solution, that Clinton made and it really stood out the most.
Nowadays, people in many developing countries do not have living standards that meet the basic human need. There are people suffering and dying from starving, malnutrition, and diseases everyday in the developing world. The contrast between the life of those people and that of developed world is very significant. Building strategic infrastructure investments such as basic food supply, good economy and health care system is extremely important to a country and there is no exception to Canada and those developing countries. In Western society today, one of the most misconstrued topics that is discussed in the news is terrorism. The Criminal Code of Canada defines terrorism as, “an act committed, in whole or in part, for a political, religious or ideological purpose, objective or cause with the intention of intimidating the public” (Government of Canada, 2015). Despite the clarity of this definition, the general North American population has misconceived the usage of this word, and instead, labels acts of terror as different – and often, less harsh – words. This error is especially prevalent in the United States, where political leaders now lead the country into believing that terrorism is exclusive to Islam. This ideology continues into Canada as more people question,
Having to face constant abuse of power from others can trigger a person mentally to drive them to a point where they feel like they need to take drastic immediate action to stop the violence and make a statement by creating new violence. A brief history of the development of the term terrorism was to describe, “premeditated, politically motivated violence perpetrated against noncombatant targets by subnational groups or clandestine agents, usually intended to influence an audience.” (Cancelmo,1) In relation to the term terrorist, it was used to define acts of violence strictly only by Muslims. But once the government had made a public announcement stating that America had labeled the entire Muslim community terrorists.

Terrorism is usually understood as the use or threat of violence to further a political cause. by Max Roser, Mohamed Nagdy and Hannah Ritchie There is no universally agreed definition of terrorism making it a difficult object to quantify. While acts of terrorism across the globe have increased markedly in recent decades, in most parts of the world it continues to be a relatively rare event and is instead focused in particular countries or regions of instability. I. Empirical View I.1 Historical Terrorism Terrorism is not a 21st century phenomenon and has its roots in early resistance and political movements.
What happens in a terrorist attack affects many people in the world. The aftermath of an attack is what has the largest impact on people’s lives. However, terrorism does not have the same effect on everyone. The threat is not taken as seriously by some people. Some might think that it is an empty threat, but others might think it is a serious threat.
