Global and Analytic Learning Style
“Learning styles are internally based characteristics, often not perceived or consciously used by learners, for the intake and comprehension of new information. In general, students retain these preferred learning styles despite the teaching styles and the classroom atmospheres they encounter.” (Kamińska 3) The learning styles that will be discussed in this paper are the global and analytic learning style. Their differences will be shown, and the activities that accommodate these learning styles will be described. Analytic learners definitely have an advantage in language learning because of their ability to analyze and understand the organizing principles of the language system. Focus Student 1 (Above Proficient) was among this group that met or exceeded the standard in every area identified in the rubric. Additionally, student 1 will be provided enrichment activities to progress his learning. I will build upon their knowledge using strategies to increase my student’s understanding of how to prepare an informative explanatory text using topics that consider the audience. These strategies will assist them with providing credible facts and definitions, well developed points, and a concluding statement that is relative to the topic in their text.
If asked how is a person’s lifetime spent, numerous people would think of the times devoted to family. They may reflect of the years of gaining an education, or attempting to find a soulmate to spend the rest of their life with. However, we rarely consider the time we spend preparing our body to continue living our lives. Oddly enough, the time we allow our body to recuperate, through sleeping, is where we spend more than a third of our lifetime; this is equivalent to approximately twenty five years cycling through the stages of sleep, yet at some point in time we all have been deprived of some essential hours of shut eye (Altevogt and Harvey). Therefore, people, in today’s society, often complain of being constantly tired, yet many do not understand the stages of sleep and common problems that accompany it.

The motivational psychology researchers discovered several useful approaches and practices that can be implemented in the classroom for effective learning to take place (Miller, 2012). Teachers are using differentiation to support teaching and learning. Differentiation can vary in pace, activities, resources, teaching and learning styles in an attempt to best meet the needs of individual student. Various teaching strategies such as cooperative learning, active learning, role play and games and pedagogic tools are being integrated in educational theories in meaningful and useful ways to encourage task or learning achievements.
