Global population has shown an increase from 2 billion to 7 billion in the past 80 years. This increase is due to the number of individuals that are being added every year although many are being lost. It has been predicted that the global population will rise to 9 billion in the next 40 years. Food Security means that all people at all times have physical & economic access to sufficient amounts of affordable, nutritious food. This predicted rapid increase in the global population puts a challenge of finding solutions to feed this rapidly expanding population. The solution is being hardly established since the challenge is not only about how to feed but it’s also about what to feed since food differs between different populations.

These reasons tend to show that birth rate decreases due to the quality of life but experts still project that the global population will add up to 2 billion in the next 40 years. The challenge of how and what to feed this amount of people is being solved by increasing food production of different types and increasing individual diet, which will in turn help in reducing the amount of food wasted by populations. The problem comes that many developing countries has dramatically declined food security, which makes the solution hardly created. Due to that, the solution tend to focus more on reducing misrepresentations in the structure of the world food market and on shifting the focus of food production to food consuming and reducing the amount of wasted food. Although the fact that an effort is being made to improve conditions for these people is enough to inspire hope for their future health, there is still much more that needs to be done. Whether revisions occur in the form of changes in policies, public awareness, or campaigning by stores to make healthy foods more financially appealing, something desperately needs to be done and soon. World hunger has always been a problem that has plagued humanity, and through the years, it has remained an almost impossible problem to solve. However, industrialized agriculture has become a possible solution to world hunger with its ability to produce more food on less land than traditional methods. Industrialized agriculture is the solution Robert Paarlberg offers in his article, “Attention Whole Food Shoppers” which first appeared in April 2010 edition of Foreign Policy. Paarlberg attempts to use specific criteria to demonstrate the benefits of industrialized agriculture, such as its impacts on world hunger, the income gap, and global politics. Paarlberg was to an extent successful at proving his points and persuading his intended audience.
In 1960, a man named Paul Ehrlich shared his fears of overpopulation in the world through his book called, “The Population Bomb”. He made many predictions about what kind of disasters we would face if drastic measures were not taken. Zero Population Growth became a political movement that wanted to limit births and give rewards to couples without children. However, humanity has managed to survive even with the current population growth. Paul Ehrlich believes that even though his predictions didn’t happen, it doesn’t mean he was wrong.
