Touring the Glore Psychiatric Museum The fist sense that you get upon entering the Glore Psychiatric Museum is the eerie feeling that someone else is watching you. That could have been true a few years ago when the collection was exhibited in a ward at St. Joseph State Hospital in Missouri. It was known as the State Lunatic Asylum #2 until the year 1899. Most of the ill patients were treated with modern-day medicine and released. The new museum is located just outside the prison fence of the converted prison. George Glore founded the museum back in 1967 while he was working for the Missouri mental health system. The exhibit occupies four floors featuring a collection of treatments for mental illnesses.
