My mother, Wina Bailey, is a hard working woman who is very successful in life. She not only has a satisfying job, but she is also able to care for her family. When Wina graduated high school, she wasn’t able to achieve her college degree right away because of her family struggles. However, when she was 36 years old, Her best friend inspired her to go back to college because even though it took her friend years to achieve a masters degree, yet she persevered and that gave my mom strength mentally in which she was able to say “ I can do that too”. She decided to attend University of Phoenix’s online classes in extent to care for a family of 4 and juggle working full time.
Rivera.Session1.Journal What made me want to go back to school was that I didn 't have anything else going for me after high school. I had two beautiful children in the process. I couldn 't find a job or anything it was hard on my own. CCU showed me that it doesn 't matter what your going threw It 's never to late to get an education. Everyone in my family was telling me to enroll back in school I have to admit I was kind of scared to but I 'm here today now back in school.
They love me, and I felt that they would support me no matter what. It wasn’t until a doctor that I worked for saw my hard work and drive. He saw potential in me and encouraged me to return to school to receive my degree. He has a vision of his future business that includes me, and the only way that I can help him accomplish this vision is to do my part and get my Bachelor’s Degree in Business Administration. That being said, here I am.
Oh, that does not matter at the moment we are talking about you and your future" say´s mom I was so overwhelmed that choosing a career could be this hard I began to call colleges and asking nurses which school will be in there best interest. I received a lot of feedback which took a lot of stress off my back knowing the courses wouldn't be that hard if I take good notes and study well. I got home with a idea for me and my mom to go through with which was visting Gateway Community College which has both Radiology and Sonography Associate's programs. " Well this college looks pretty neat, not to many people and plenty of good looking people" "Don't worry about the people worry about getting info on your career" Says mom. The director to the school gave us a detour of the programs starting with Radiology it was a cool
A School where you are surrounded by people of all ages, you are taught by real college professors and have to take responsibility for yourself. This was a huge step for me, along the way I fumbled and sort of slipped of track, but my devotion for my dream of attending college and entering the health profession pulled me right back on tract. My whole life I have been devoted to education and striving to do better. My strive for bettering myself and reaching my goals and dreams will never stop, no matter
A job in the business industry that I love is one goal after college. With a stable job, I will be able to provide my parents any of their needs. The career I want to pursue is in business management and marketing. My marketing class at the Lapeer Education and Technology Center has given me the passion for business. The skills acquired throughout two years in that class has gotten me an offering for a job as a secretary after I graduate high school.
Finding motivation to attend college is easy, keeping the motivation to finish is the difficult part. I decided to enroll in college to earn my Bachelor’s degree in Business with a concentration in Finance. I hope that the degree will give me the opportunity to apply for a better position within the organization that I currently work for. A secondary goal of returning to school is to demonstrate to my son that attending college is required for many jobs and that returning to school as an adult has various difficult challenges. I have been working for the past nine years as an Assistant Financial Officer and am highly competent at my job.
Why I Go to School Going to college was always a dream of mine, to be able to experience a high level education for career I always wanted to go into. I never knew if I would have the opportunity because I did not have the financial means to go; however, I applied to college anyway and hope for the best outcome. The free application for federal student aid is what helped me get the tuition to go to college. Just being able to go college for me is a privilege and is something fundamental for my future goals. Therefore, going to class for me is not a chore or something I dread, going to class motivates me for my future.
Needless to say, I am not the typical age of a college student. However, I had always told myself that I would someday re enroll, earn a degree, and graduate so that I could be a prime example for my four children as to what never giving up looks like. I believe this college would enable me to earn a degree without taking on a heavy financial burden. In addition, I appreciate the flexible structure of programs which would fit into my current lifestyle as a busy mom. And, I definitely love the maturer yet diverse environment the school has to offer.
Ever since I graduated High school they kept pushing me like if I was one a swing, to keep going and I did, I attended Heritage University. I did not want to be far away from my parents and sister, so Heritage was the best option I had. My parents have been my every day inspiration because every day they work so hard to bring food and keep a roof under our heads and I am very thankful for that. That’s why I’m here going to school and trying my best to graduate and become someone later, so they can be glad that I achieved and didn’t back out. We have to follow the path because that path never ends it might have rough edges and bumps, but as long as you believe you will soon get to your destination.
After a pause of almost 25 years, I am returning to the college classroom and to say that there are mixed emotions would be an understatement. Sure, I’m excited to start but also a bit fearful if I’m being honest. I’ve worked for large and international companies during this time but getting back to college has always been a goal of mine. No time like the present I guess! I am married with a one daughter who will be heading to college next fall and she is definitely a large and important part of my life.
I was bound to a rigid daily routine of going to school and coming home. I grew worried that my four years of high school would pass by without a chance for me to continue the work that I loved doing with the Durnibar Foundation. But gradually, I realized that the time spent with my aunt was my new outlet to help those in need.
Depict me; a full-time CSR, Mother, and wife. I have always wanted to go back to college, even after I dropped out, in 2010. I have always aspired to be a Network and Technology Manager. My dreams has been put on the back burner because of my priorities. Now, my priorities have changed, so now I can finish what I have started.
Being the oldest of seven kids and the absents of dad being around has forced me to step up and help out the family. While doing that I was able to finish high school and still attend college. Since I was a young girl my inspiration was to become a nurse and being able to help other and making a difference in other people’s life everyday. A person who reminds me a lot of me and has inspired me to continue going to school and not letting anything get in the way is Mary Lewis Wyche. She was born in Henderson in Vance County.
