Some student argue that college writing is very similar to high school writing and that’s why they think it is unnecessary to take a writing class in college. I believe that the students who believe college writing is exactly like high school writing are wrong because writing expectations are different in college. For some students across the U.S. a college writing class is very useless and a waste of time but on the other hand many more student across the nation need to take a writing class due to their poor grammar and subpar communication skills and would greatly benefit from this course. In this nation communication is a major key to being successful because in every job you need to be able to communicate with you peers and coworkers to get a certain task done, so our nation would benefit by making a writing class mandatory. To be given approximately 2 hours per week to primarily focus on writing is extremely beneficial to students because even though many students think college writing is a waste of time in reality it doesn
Perez argues that too many students fear failure, when in reality they could grow from failure and become a better candidate for college. Perez’ writing really made me realize how irrational I was for not wanting to go to college because of some failed tests. Just because I failed the AP exams I took, doesn 't necessarily mean I can not get into college. Without this article, I probably would not have chose to go to college to pursue my goals of becoming a teacher. I have chosen the education pathway to suit me best for many reasons.
Magic says that going to college could be hard, but if people believed in themselves, they could be successful. The author also says that it's difficult to get into a basketball career when there are too many players but with a careers people may get a job that their could be successful. The author’s point of view about this topic is that people should have a college degree even if their occupation doesn't require them to have one. As I noticed in the previous paragraph, college may be hard, but everybody can have the opportunity to get educated. Even if people don’t know what they want to do study in college, they study different subjects and latter can select a careers of their choice.
The decision to go back to college was a significant but stressful decision to complete a degree in Visual Communications. The decision to complete a degree is stressful for many reasons: 1. School has always been a struggle some times because of my bad decisions other times because I am still searching for the best way to learn. 2. The decision to go to school brought forth the decision for full time or part time.
Ungar’s theory of attending college and earning a degree, is extremely useful because it sheds insight on the difficult problem of many people debating whether or not going to college and earning a degree is the correct decision after graduating college. I agree with Ungar, that graduating high school students should go on and earn a higher education, which is a point that needs emphasizing, since so many people believe that without a college degree they will be successful. High school graduates that have entered the work field after high school graduation, of course, may want to dispute my claim that in order to become successful person you do not need a college education. Many may argue that they have become a successful without a college
The opportunities I see in my everyday life are making sure I put a smile on someone 's face, or letting someone know that they are special . The opportunities I have in my academic life is somewhat limited not mentally or because I don 't believe in myself but for the reason that going to college is expensive. This is why I decided to take the opportunity of going to challenger because in all honesty the cost of going to college would be too expensive for my family. Opportunities that could come across my time in life could be scholarships, internships that can lead to experience in a career. Temptations: One of the things I notice that make my opportunities derail is the loss of motivation and doubt in believing that I can achieve the goals I have set for myself.
Other than working with different people, college students will have to take action and responsibility on their own. For instance, they will have to wake up and be on time for their classes, get there work done and then have time for themselves. “You don’t have to be great to get started, but you have to get started to be great.“Les Brown. Finally, going to college is what you make it. You have to surround yourself with positive people and have a positive mindset you shouldn’t go just for the money, it’s a lot of opportunity in going to college.
I think this has shaped me to not want to be like them and do well in school so I can go to college and get a job to provide for myself and maybe even a family one day. I think this is a major thing in our culture. We are pushed to do well in school to do well in college and then eventually get a job. I feel like I have been shaped to want to do exactly this which makes me work harder and get good grades. It also gives me some anxiety though.
Athletics is special and it should be taken with caution, but this writer believes every college should go all in on the opportunity to have college athletics. College athletics at a Community College provides hope to the student, some kids may have had a bad High School experience, but the college can give the player a fresh start and athletes love to have a fresh start. This writers grades were not good in Highschool and if this writer had a Community college around that offered college athletics this writer would have went. Eventually this writer got an opportunity to play in college, but not at a division one college where this writer had offers from, so Community College would do more good than bad to the student
However, I got many negative feedbacks, such as “Why would you want to live on campus?” and “It costs a lot of money”. Therefore I changed my topic to just persuading the first year students to live on campus, instead of persuading the college. I made this change in the topic because I thought it would be better for the students to make choices for themselves. Again, peer reviewing was a great help because through my classmates, I got to know more about the disadvantage commuters have to face, such as that some commuters waste more than two hours traveling each day to and from school, and because of that, they did not get to study as much as they
