Once again, Canadians proved that they were a nation who deserved autonomy, could lead a battle with diplomacy, and ultimately ensure victory on foreign soil. Therefore, D-Day was significant to Canadians because the valor showed promise to the other nations that we were a capable country that deserved
In conclusion, Tommy Douglas is a greatest Canadian because he devoted himself into creating a promising future for Canada. He spared no efforts to improve the living standard for people. During Douglas’s life, he fought for his citizens’ welfare as well as pushed forward some effective social reform which impacted greatly. It is obvious that many policies nowadays can be found a source form Douglas.
Disseminating Tales of Canadian War Heroes November 11th marks the day Canadians unite to honour the sacrifices of our veterans, past and present. Furthermore, we take a moment to recognize the price of liberty and democracy our veterans paid to ensure a prosperous future for this country. Their selfless heroism is one of the reasons that Canada is the prosperous nation that it is today; moreover, their unyielding fortitude is an example to all Canadians. Every soldier who has died for this country had a story - a story that is complex and unique just like all of ours. In contemporary society, many Canadian youth often find themselves asking a simple question – who and what am I remembering during Remembrance Day?
The first way in which Hitler appealed to the Germans can be attributed to nationalism. Nationalism, excessive pride in one 's country, caused Hitler and the Nazi Party to seem attractive because it was almost second nature. Germans ' hearts burst with pride and "supreme love of their fatherland..." (doc 2). The people of Germany loved their country, and therefore, loved their leader. They were willing to drop everything and fight for Germany if their leader ordered them to.
“ I don´t think it comes as a surprise to anyone that I stand firmly against the politics of division, the politics of fear, the politics of intolerance or hateful rhetoric”. It has been mentioned before that Justin Trudeau gained a lot of support due to the fact that people identified themselves in his core values and views on key and divisive subjects, this statement being a prime example of that. He believes that the multi-cultural nature of Canada represents a valuable advantage that is yet to be maximized. As he famously said “Diversity is the engine of invention. It generates creativity that enriches the world”.
I believe that the Joy Luck Club is called the same thing to remember what happened on the mountain and the losses that these immigrants feel every day. When they invest in stocks, they are hoping to get lucky. They still have the same basic principles of the original club, but the immigrants have modernized this club to better fit in American culture. The name also remains to remind the members that there will always be a little thing that can help to keep you optimistic, a little bit of hope and fun times with your friends can make the bad times worse.
We show pride in our sports team, right? We all love going to the Friday night games and cheering with the school mascot. Is using Indian mascots truly inappropriate or is it just showing honor? Using Native American images and names in professional, collegiate and high school sports team does not reinforce and perpetuate stereotypes because it is not harming them; these teams is merely showing gratification for their cultures.
The United States is great because of our multiple ethnicities that have been integrated over the years; we are in ourselves a country of immigrants. If we indeed want to stay “great” we shall continue to allow ambitious hardworking human beings to enter our country and contribute to the United States. Shutting them out under the false pretenses will erode everything that has been built by strong willed foreigners throughout our
He has set standards for all people that wish to be successful and do not want to be “average”. Carnegie has opened my eyes to many different ideas and ways to become the best person that I can. Success is now a goal of mine and I am driven to create a life that I do not need a vacation from. Carnegie said it best when he made this statement, “ People who are unable to motivate themselves must be content with mediocrity, no matter how impressive their other talents.” When I think about this quote it reminds me of another extremely successful man, Arnold Schwarzenegger.
America is the land of the free, home of the brave. As an American I learned those words as soon as I started elementary school. America is the greatest country on earth… or is it? America has a history of oppressing people because of race, occupation, and heritage. Yet as a people we like to say that, that is in the past and now we are inclusive as ever and everyone is considered equal.
The citizens trust America as a nation with a very bright vision to be even greater. The mistakes that we made in the past still haunts us today and I don’t wants us to repeat the mistakes and regrets again. I agree with Senate Cabot when he said “We have made mistakes in the past and we shall make in the future and fall short of our own best hopes” because this shows that we have made many mistakes again and again, we need to take a stand and stop. I also agree with senate cabot when he said “ it is well to remember that we are dealing with nations, everyone of which has a direct individual interest to serve, and there is grave danger in an unshared idealism” because it shows that nations will be hurt like Germany , think about what we will
After reading the document “The American Crisis” by Thomas Paine, published in December 23, 1776, I think that the author had written a very inspiring article. In front of the war, he was fearless, and he could not find any reason to be afraid. I agree with the author and believe, no matter anything, as long as we persevere, indomitable, we would have the hope to get the glorious results. The author was successful in making me feel that the harder the conflict, the more glorious the triumph.
It has been a long journey leading up to this highly anticipated moment. I stand here today due to your support and devotion to exercise one of the most important rights guaranteed to all U.S. citizens – the right to vote. Thank you, my fellow Americans, for letting your voices be heard and choosing me to lead our nation. We have a great task laid before us: to make this country greater than it ever was before.
I think if Martin was still alive, he would be proud of his country. He was a fighter and fought till the end of his
On my Canadian identity poster I chose 10 symbols that I feel are symbols that sumup Canada quite well. My first symbol is the LGBTQ flag because here in Canada our LGBTQ community have equal rights just like everyone else and it shows that we don`t judge people just because they like the same sex or because they just don't feel like they were born in the right body. Canada is a big supporter for those people and it helps them feel wanted and not feel like they are not welcome. My second symbol is the moose because it has always been a big symbol for Canada and when a lot of people think ”Canada” they think of some of the popular animals such as the beaver, the loon and the polar bear, but a moose is also a big one. The moose isn't just
