During 1969 and the 1970’s, International Hotel, or commonly referred as I-Hotel, was and is a very crucial part of San Francisco political activism. It’s served as a banner for Asian American activism, for the improvement of poor housing conditions. During this place and time, the fuel for student political activism was high with the Third World Liberation Front social movement happening at San Francisco State College and at UC Berkeley, both fighting for the establishment of an Ethnic Studies Department. Hence, the Bay Area was a well of political activism at the time. In 1969, the tenants of I-Hotel faced eviction from Milton Meyer & Company and have the building replaced as a parking garage.

Visiting around Little Saigon, I easily found out that the heart of Little Saigon is located on Bolsa Avenue between Westminster Boulevard and Magnolia Avenue. This is a famous tourist attraction that most Vietnamese people must visit when they travel to California. It is not difficult at all to try Vietnamese traditional cuisines since both sides of the street are packed with restaurants that serve typically traditional foods such as Pho, Egg Rolls, Banh Mi, etc. Furthermore, Vietnamese people also get access to other services such as bank, health care centers, shops, entertainments, legal-aid services and many other services at ease. In addition, major contribution to the fame of Little Saigon is the presence of Asian Garden Mall, which is also called Phuoc Loc Tho.
Visitors can be guided on tours, enjoy scenic views, high-energy musical performances and precision military
The Hagia Triada Sarcophagus is the only limestone sarcophagus, used for the burial of a prince. You can tell he is a prince because they do not paint on sarcophagus unless it is an important person. The sarcophagus is painted in fresco just like the Minoan palace paintings. However, Minoan’s only used frescos for showing scenes of the enjoyment of life not funerary scenes like ancient Egyptians. Hagia Triada Sarcophagus is similar to Minoan palace frescoes and the best example would be the Toreador Frescoes.
The Vietnam memorial is interesting in many ways. First it is pretty long. It is pretty tall. Second it is visited by a lot of people a year. It also is mostly their favorite.
The Vietnamese names of cities, towns and streets were changed to French names. Significant business tended to be conducted in French, rather than local languages. If not for the climate and people, some parts of Hanoi and Saigon could have been mistaken for parts of Paris, rather than a Southeast Asian capital. However, I had an impression that exactly because of French presence in Vietnam, Saigon (now Ho Chi Minh city) obtained it’s unique eclectic style.

Huế served as the Imperial City during the Nguyen Dynasty, which was the last Vietnamese dynasty to rule in an independent fashion and held control of Huế City through 1945. The value of the city to the history of Vietnam made its possession culturally significant to North and South Vietnam. Huế City’s large population was due in part to the major lycée that was there and served as a major hub for the Vietnamese religious population. During the Vietnam War, Huế City became an important objective because it was the former hometown of Ho Chi Minh, who grew up inside the Citadel. Minh’s upbringing inside the Imperial City was shaped by the Nguyen Dynasty’s anticolonial sentiment, which held slight control inside the citadel until 1945.
HORNELL (WENY) - For the next five days, a traveling Vietnam Memorial Wall will be on display in Hornell as a way to pay tribute to those who sacrificed their lives during the war. For Vietnam Veteran Skip Merrick, the display is more than just names on a wall, it's friends, it's brothers, it's sisters. "It's an honor for us guys who did come home to protect the name, to protect the wall and say hello to comrades who didn't come home," explains Merrick who served aboard the USS Enterprise in Vietnam in 1969. For the next five days, the traveling replica of the Vietnam Veteran Memorial in Washington DC, will be in Hornell next to the Arkport Cycles store. The wall stretches nearly 300 feet long and holds more than 58,000 names.
