Being Indian, I have always witnessed a culture of studying, not learning. Children would gulp down textbooks and vomit on the examination papers only to secure an A grade but, to no avail. Hence, I believe that the concept of rote-learning and standardised examinations is inherently flawed. Consequently, in a diverse country like India, even education systems need to diversify.
Learning about the University of Edinburgh’s MSc Education (Comparative Education and International Development), I was intrigued by the suitability of the course to my intellectual needs. As a psychology graduate, I am eager to learn about local and national policy formulation, while considering the individual differences in academic potential. To satiate my ardent curiosity of learning about diverse educational policies, I worked as an Assistant Teacher at Allenhouse Public School during my inter-semester break. The job scope included teaching English, Mathematics and Hindi to Sr. Kindergarten children. From delivering the curriculum to understanding the individual

My dissatisfaction with the unpropitious consistency in teaching methods propelled me to join Kangaroo Kids Preschool, for a period of six months upon graduation. As a personal study of the two schools, I again worked as an Assistant Teacher in Sr. Kindergarten. Comparatively, this school utilized a myriad of teaching methods marked by technological advancements. Also, imbibing the international culture of the school was immensely enriching. The innovative and creative methodologies of teaching as well as provision of independent learning opportunities highly appealed to me. Consequently, this experience strengthened my inquisitiveness to further explore the education policies and practices in
For the past four years, I have maintained a conceptual continuity in my academic pursuit of quality work in the legal system. While in college I pursuit a criminal justice major with the intention to go to law school after graduating. I dreamed of becoming a lawyer since I was a young girl. However, during my senior year of college, I felt perplexed of my future, was not sure if I wanted to continue pursuing this old dream that I once thought it was my goal in life. Like most graduating seniors, I was not sure of what I wanted to do with my degree once I attain it.

Ever since I was a young child, I enjoyed structure and searched for it in the midst of chaos found I life. Being an only child, I was not able to rebel against my parents and was under constant surveillance. However, as I grew up and entered my teenage years, my parents viewed my choices as rebellious ones. They felt I fell out of their structure and began to build my own and become my own person. Growing up with this structure also lead me to search for it in my academics.
While doing my undergraduate studies in Psychology I got the opportunity to meet many great professors that helped me to become the graduate student I am today. During my first year in The University of Puerto Rico I took an advanced literature course with a brilliant professor that could analyze any story in a manner that was not only understandable but also interesting. I was mesmerized, but not by her knowledge but by the teaching methodology she employed to project that knowledge. I ended up taking three more courses with her that led to the development of a great friendship that I cherish to this day. Throughout my undergraduate years I had the privilege of meeting several professors just like her that influenced my personal and professional
At eight years old, my mom took me to my first Badger Football game. She reminisced about memories of once being a Badger while I envisioned myself future-self as a Badger. She told me about her long walks up Bascom Hill and her favorite moments on State Street. She inspired me to strive to be a Badger. After visiting Madison three separate times (all for graduations of different family members), it made me want it more.
Please discuss your interest in science and mathematics. * My fascination with science and mathematics began at a very young age. In elementary school, I was already taking accelerated math classes as well as participating in science quest, an after-school club. With science, I have the option to explore the unknown and satisfy my curiosity of the world around us.
Policy Stages The improvement of the education sector is one of the major priorities and focus of government officials in this sector and policymakers. The need to improve education has been characterized by numerous suggestions by various stakeholders as well as the public. Some of these proposals include spending more money on education, equitable distribution of educational resources, and more control over education policy (Almanac of Policy Issues, n.d.). The implementation of these proposals in order to improve education will basically require the development, implementation, and evaluation of policy.
The University of Michigan offers an abundance of opportunities and classes in many fields, and I am especially appealed by those in the LSA Department of Psychology. I am interested in taking courses in Cognitive Development and Developmental Psychology, which cover topics regarding child development, emotions, and knowledge. Moreover, I hope to have the opportunity to meet Dr. Shelly Schreier, whose expertise overlaps with my academic focus, as I want to study the social behavior of children and childhood brain development. I am also attracted to the diverse selection of resources offered, especially those relating to global study and public service. I like to take an in-depth approach to learning, and I hope to fulfill this aspiration by getting involved in the many global study opportunities available to undergraduates.
Efficiency is minimizing waste and maximizing benefit. I chose to pursue a degree in industrial and systems engineering because I enjoy the challenge of planning things within certain constraints, in the most efficient way possible. When I first began my undergraduate studies, however, I wanted to pursue a degree in the biosciences. From where I began to where I am now is a journey in itself, but I have found a field of study that I love and I'm excited for the future it holds for me.

Strangely enough, a ten day trip to Japan during my sophomore year of high school is what led to my decision to teach abroad and learn Korean. Before traveling to Japan, I had never been overseas. The trip opened my eyes to the possibility of living and working abroad, something I had never considered prior. Almost immediately upon returning I started researching English Teaching programs abroad. A Korean woman at my church heard that I was interested in teaching English in another country and suggested that I look into programs in Korea.
I am interested to study in a master’s degree in the field of International Affairs. In fact, in 2011, I graduated a bachelor’s degree at Uzbekistan State World Languages University. Therefore, I am eager to develop my background knowledge and qualification with international affairs and relations. Honestly, I strongly believe that a master’s degree will enhance my academic experience and lead me gain professional achievements. I have to admit that International affairs is the field of Political Science and it studies of relationships among countries, the roles of independent states, inter-governmental organizations and multinational corporations, so it is an academic and a public policy field.

For more than twenty years, my mother has been working as a financial accounting expert in Vietnam. Throughout my adolescence, as her position became more and more senior, she had to deal with enormous amount of work that often meant she had to work late into the night. Consequently, I volunteered to be her little assistant in the evening by simply copying data into books as well as rechecking calculations to check for errors. This basic training with my mother was my very first exposure to accounting and finance. As the years rolled on, I learnt a great many more fundamental financial terms, but more importantly, developed a comprehensive understanding of the symmetry of numbers, of what makes accounting and finance a career path I want to follow.
Although a formal education is not the only way to learn, pursuing a higher education is necessary to improve the individual and thus society. One might object here that learning is not limited to a formal education. Jon Spayde argues that ‘genuine education
