Hi this is you from 7th Grade, I want to tell you some info from when you were in LEAP in Mr.Hooten 's Class. When we first started LEAP one project we did was the One Word Project. I chose the word CAN because I normally say “I can 't do that!”, so when I say I can, it really motivates me to do it or try harder. I have a promise for you, Will you promise that you’ll try to get better grades. In the future after a year has gone by I want to be more mature, and in three years when I’m in tenth grade I want to challenge myself and try to get good grades. In five years when I’m in twelfth grade I want to graduate High School and find a college I want to go to and what I want to do later in life, and in ten years I want to be in college,
David McCullough, in his Wellesley High School Commencement Address, utilizes imagery to convey to his audience that each individual possesses the same common potential. While addressing the graduating class of 2012, McCullough makes a point to emphasize how unexceptional the students are. By bringing to light the fact that the students are all wearing the same “ceremonial costume…shapeless, uniform, one-size-fits-all” (McCullough 1), he illustrates the conformity of the crowd. By depicting the cap and gown, McCullough demonstrates that each student at the ceremony are at the same level.
Our dad would have been 76 today. I miss him as much today as I did the day he left his earthly body behind to transcend into the heaven. The older I get the more I realize just how lucky we were to call him Pops! I wouldn't be the man I am today without his guidance.
I will also get the chance to learn how to be without my parents and what it truly means to be independent. Most importantly I will get to follow a career path that was truly design for me. Although playing college softball has been a dream of mine for so long I will also get to live out another dream of mine which is becoming a teacher and possibly even a doctor. Whatever the future might hold for me I will be ready because I know I’m doing things that pique my interests rather than doing something
Next year I don’t want to procrastinate at all I want to get all my homework turned in on time with my best work. I want to have all A’s and maybe some B’s and a GPA no lower than 3.0. The most important thing I want to do is not judge teachers the ones that might look the coolest could total jerks and the ones who look really boring could be the best teacher I’ll ever meet. I hope in high school that I am a really good student and that the people in my grade actually start trying in school because I don’t want any more disappointed
However, there is a deeper meaning to be found. This story symbolizes the many obstacles one must overcome to be successful in life. Among the many goals I will try to accomplish in the next 10 years of my life are: graduating
Throughout reading “Commencement Speech, Kenyon College”, I found this short story very inspiring to read as I found myself doing more research for this essay because I was so interested in it. Wallace was very reluctant to give this speech because he wasn’t sure he was ready to talk in front of 400 graduates and what if what he had to say was ordinary not something that would stick with all these students the rest of their lives. Reading this speech through the first time the tone particularly stuck out to me, a direct yet casualness in the way he made his argument really made this go from ordinary to extraordinary. Starting off with water and ending with water tied the essay into one big loop with many messages within it but a central message central the main idea water. Water comes within many forms like ice, evaporation, solid liquid, colored or even clear and so many more.
The atmosphere of Schoenfeld Campus Gym had been electrifying Thursday afternoon. The Fall Homecoming Pep Rally included numerous activities for Concordia’s sports team to partake in. For example, one “challenge” involved a member of the sports team getting wrapped up in toilet paper, under the pressure of a time clock. When time ran out, whichever individual was wrapped in the most toilet paper (or looked the most like they had just emerged from an Egyptian pyramid) won that game. The CCNY Pep Rally acted as an opportunity for the rest of the student body to become familiar with our famed athletic program, and to mingle with this elite status of the student.
Lone Star High School is a location where students can feel secure and have many opportunities to showcase their skills and leadership qualities. Our campus is built upon five figurative pillars; Integrity, Strength, Stewardship, Loyalty and Perseverance. These pillars are what make us the admirable school that we are today. I believe everyone of our students must have these five qualities in order to ensure success now and later on in the future. As a student I believe that for one to have integrity they must show signs of righteous ethical morals.
I am Esteban Rogelio Reyes, and I’m in the ninth grade. About a few weeks ago you came and visited Rancho Mirage High School and gave us copies of your book, Autodidactic. That book really changed what I think about education, learning and taking responsibility into my own hands. After reading your book, I thought about who I am, my struggles and my accomplishments. I think one of the very few accomplishments I’ve made in my life include getting a perfect score of 600 on the California State Test in English or Math
I want to look back at my life and be happy with the choices I made and the person I have
When I was in elementary school, I could not wait for middle school. When I was in middle school, I could not wait for high school. And now that I am in high school, I am absolutely terrified for the future. I wholeheartedly wish that I would have enjoyed the present instead of wishing for the future. Now, I find myself a junior at Chase High School wishing I could have back the precious minutes I wasted
Dylan Dessner Mrs. Chung ELA/2 14 April, 2016 One Day I Want To Be…….. Many people in their childhood wanted to be a fireman, policeman or an athlete, but is the dream you really want at the end of the day. When I was two or three years old I did what everyone else did, go to a birthday party at the firehouse then your favorite characters from a show comes out with a fireman, or on Christmas night the fire trucks drive to my street and give out candy canes to everyone, but when I grew older I knew I had to go to college and then get a job, and grow up from the past events in my life. My parents dream for me in the future is to be successful and to them being successful is getting a full time job, I express the same interest as they do for
In my brief life, I have overcome a lot of adversity. My mom fled Mexico with her three young children to escape domestic violence. When we came to this country we had only a few personal belongings and the promise of a better future. We came to this country and lived in a small trailer with no toilet other than a bucket, and no shower except for the one that was lent to us from the kindness of a stranger, our new neighbor. As a single parent, my mother had to work day and night to support us.
I believe that I will be able to look at my experiences in high school and see that I made a difference in my
Teachers are constantly working to prepare us for the next level. One time in school when my growth thrived was my first few days of high school. In these days, I was able to realize how far I’ve come and what it’s going to take to be successful in the school. From the start, I made the decision that I wanted to do my very best in high school to help my future. Ever since I’ve made this decision, I’ve grown into a hard working, knowledgeable person.
