I am a girl who was born and raised in a middle class family in a village named Kamatagi. Had it not been for my mother's strong desire and struggle to educate all of us (my siblings & I), I would not have been educated enough to apply for this fellowship. She being a nurse in a government hospital, managed to give all of us the best education possible. I was one among those few children who got lucky enough to get the necessary education. Many of my childhood friends got married in their early age because their parents did not have enough money to educate them. Today, whenever I take a trip to my hometown for holidays, I see small kids around my neighborhood ,some of them do not have proper clothes to wear, they do not get 3 meals in a day …show more content…
As you all may have an idea that, JNVs take students every year from 6th STD, and this institute provides best education for gratis. Not only education, it provides all the basic needs like, food, shelter, uniform, books and even petite things like tooth brush ,tooth paste to make students life so comfortable. Apart from getting these amenities, thanks to all my teachers , I am standing here today because of my teacher’s with their virtues , each teacher invest so much of their time & dedication towards their student(weak ones or strong one’s) , without expecting anything in return …it’s amazing!!!. I know how important is the role of a teacher in a child's life and I am being the direct recipient of all the benefits, I have always wanted to give back something. Two to three years back, I heard about Teach for India organization and I did some research about it, it's vision, the work it is doing towards education, I was overwhelmed. This was exactly something that I was looking for, this could be my first step towards my dreams of providing education to those underprivileged children. This is an organization, that I have been looking for to work with. This my reason, for wanting to lead approximately 40 students for 2 years as a full-time teacher at a government/low-fee private school as a Teach For
As a future teacher, I feel that this form of practice is essential to educating our youth. Serving as an advocate of Americorps member I feel that this program would heighten my experience and knowledge of teaching.
Not being able to have food, not having enough for the week, and not knowing where to get food for your starving child are all defined in what is known as “food insecurity”. According to the resources, nearly 84 % of client households with children report purchase the cheapest food available knowing that it wasn’t the healthiest option just as an effort to provide enough food for their family. On top of that, Among Feeding America, a federal program, client households with children, nearly 9 in 10 households are food insecure (“Child Hunger”). This is not okay for anyone but most importantly children. According to another source, children are growing and need healthy food sources in order for them to grow into healthy, confident adults.
I am interested in becoming a TK assistant teacher at Providence Day School. I believe my pedagogical style reflects the Providence Day commitment to students, allowing students to be intellectual risk-takers within a community of supportive learners and educators. My life experiences and my enthusiasm will allow me to teach with compassion and understanding to help students achieve academic success while nurturing their social and emotional skills. I will be graduating from Queens University of Charlotte with a degree in Elementary Education on May 6, 2017. I am currently completing my student teaching in first-grade at Sharon Elementary School.
Their Mission is, “We are committed to providing quality comprehensive services for the child and his/her family. Our activities are geared toward nurturing the growth and development of the children enrolled, involving parents in the program and providing them with opportunities to enhance their understanding and knowledge.”. This is where I actually did my service. I was placed in a classroom with 21 kids from the age 3-5. Immediately after walking into the room, a number of them got up from their storytime and hugged us and drug us over to sit with them.
I can contribute my knowledge of social justice and ability to be a community servant to this organization. My long-term life goal is to become a hospital owner in multiple underrepresented areas and foreign countries. Being a community servant, one can build character while helping open doors or provide opportunities for those who are less fortunate. I’ve read the many articles of the large groups of Alpha men graduating from Meharry Medical College, that have had such a huge impact on the surrounding communities by giving a helping hand when needed. It’s the small things that count and makes me eager to join the previous groups of male leaders striving to achieve their goals, which defy all odds against
I firmly believe that i deserve this award granted by the Courage to Grow Scholarship. Education is greatly important to me and my future. No one in my family has ever attended college and I know that I can change that. I may come from a poor family but it is my goal to be successful in the career i choose.
I know that all my efforts to maintain a good average and a good standing in High School will be fruitful if I am given the opportunity to participate in this organization that is made up of people that are determined, devoted, and above all aspire to help others. I am in band and I have proven that I am
Many school’s life skills programs from all over the area come to enjoy a day where they can be themselves and have fun. There is nothing more rewarding to me than to see these kids happy and to give them the chance to feel included. I have been incredibly blessed with all the opportunities the FFA has given me. The FFA takes students today and transforms them into leaders for tomorrow. Without the many opportunities that this program has given me, I would not be the person I am today.
Coming from a small, diverse town and high school, with an overwhelming majority of low-income families, I learned to never take for granted the life I was given. More importantly, I learned that I have the opportunity to help people that are less fortunate than I am, in a wide variety of
Lone Star High School is a location where students can feel secure and have many opportunities to showcase their skills and leadership qualities. Our campus is built upon five figurative pillars; Integrity, Strength, Stewardship, Loyalty and Perseverance. These pillars are what make us the admirable school that we are today. I believe everyone of our students must have these five qualities in order to ensure success now and later on in the future. As a student I believe that for one to have integrity they must show signs of righteous ethical morals.
There was a time when I can help student understand the concept better during school and it help them get their grades better. These leadership help me impact a positive change to not just me but to people who wanted
I have led many club activities such as concession stands, volunteer services, and other community led activities. I have become a great leader to many of these kids as president of our school club, S-Club. I am in very good standing academically and known for my exceptional work ethic. I have matured with each of the trials and events I have encountered that have come my way during my senior year. The skills I have gained over the course of the year will help me towards my main career goal in mind, professional.
Being a Web leader can help me become more aware of these things, and make me a better person, while helping others. I will still know these kids, and when they even come to high school, and when i am a senior, I can help them as a freshman too. This program can impact my life, and everyone is nervous on the first day of school, and the teachers can only do so much. Taking them on a tour answering questions, can all make them feel less nervous. Hearing it from a student that has gone to Transit will be easier than a teacher, because we were once in their
I am pursing a degree in Elementary Education and Early Childhood Education. I am passionate about education and excited to share the joy of learning with students. The perspective of wonder and sense of excitement that children bring into education motivates me daily. Teaching can leave a lasting impression in a child’s life and offers a special opportunity to shape the bright young minds of future generations. While many professions can be impactful, I believe the qualities of the person in the career position to be the most influential.
Low income families do not just get the title “poverty” branded onto them, but they have much more negative effects attached to the label. These families in the bottom third of the income group suffer immensely and this does not solely affect the family as a whole, but it affects each and every individual included. After several readings about how these families are affected, it is important to point out that children are the most unfortunate because of long-term damages. The long-term effects of children in low income families include developmental, psychological and emotional effects.
