There are some thoughts that deny the role of grammar in the process of learning and teaching the language. These thoughts are based on the idea that children can speak the language and they already know it without being introduced to grammar. But those thoughts were proven not true and meaningless because grammar has a very important role, it is one of the ways we can use to introduce the language to the kids in parts and it makes the language easier for adults to use.
So what is the role of grammar? It is the question that most of the students, learners and some teachers are asking some times. To know the role and the importance of grammar we need to see first what does it mean? Grammar is an essential part or we can say that it is one of the most important components of the English language. Grammar is the first thing to be presented, It is the section of the language that cope words’ structure (morphology), their special order in sentences (syntax), all of this beside the sounds (phonology) and the meaning (semantic). When we ask what the meaning of grammar is, the first thing that comes in our head is that Grammar is a group of rules put together to regulate how to use the language. This answer is somehow true but we can add to it, Grammar is a kind of system that contains a lot of attached units and factors that guarantee the accuracy of the language. It is the frame that people can work through to form – at the first place- words then sentences and finally a whole
In terms of grammar, Ruby seems to be very competent at understanding rules such as how to modify words in order to make them past tense. She has shown to understand how to use bound morphemes in order to change irregular verbs into past tense, for example in ‘took’, she uses the past tense irregular bound morpheme instead of the past tense regular bound morpheme ‘ed’. Another example is in the verb ‘slept’, where again she is able to use the past tense irregular rather than the regular ‘ed’. However, there is one example of a virtuous error in terms of this rule, where she says ‘bitted’ instead of ‘bitten’, using the past tense regular bound morpheme ‘ed’ instead of the irregular ‘en’. This shows that perhaps she has no quite fully developed this rule, and therefore is only at the beginnings of the post telegraphic stage in terms of grammar.
“If the English language made any sense, lackadaisical would have something to do with a shortage of flowers.” -Doug Larson. Most students would agree that college is difficult. Classes are more involved and studying is more important than ever. It is not surprising that students often end up asking the instructor how they can improve their grade right before the end of the quarter.
In “Literacy, Discourse, and Linguistics,” James Paul Gee explains how “Language” doesn’t directly correspond with “grammar” which most people tend to correlate the two. He claims how “Language” is deeper than that and represents in a way, personality. Depending on where a person grew up will determine the type of language they use and how it is interpreted. Everyone grows up with a set language, but you are able to change it throughout time. Language is a trait that everyone has, it is unique, the type language you use may determine how people perceive you.
After reading over the comments that were made on my rhetorical analysis, I realize that I need to correct many grammatical errors, establish the traditional meaning of “pro-life” and “pro-choice,” and clarify some miscellaneous sentences. I first corrected a glaring capitalization mistake that was in my title, and I also added quotations around the word “no” in my first paragraph. I made sure to insert the traditional definition of “the right to choose” in paragraph one after I established what Pozo Christie believed “the right to choose” meant. In paragraph two, I italicized the name of a news provider, and I also replaced the word “that” with “who” in two separate places. At the end of the second paragraph, I decided to reword a sentence
They are also important at home where children learn their first grammatical concepts from their parents. If you grow up learning incorrect grammar, it puts you at an immediate disadvantage. At some point in their life everyone wants to be a leader and grammar and communication skills are absolutely necessary to effectively give directions and provide assurance of leading ability. With the United States being mixed with different nationalities and foreign language speakers, hearing consistent, proper English would encourage newcomers in becoming fluent. Being a new resident of the United States and an English learner, I try to speak as good as possible and I really think that people can’t tell that I am not a native English speaker.
My favorite subject has always been english, I was never a fan of math, especially when it came to high school and college. My english teachers in high school did not helped me at all. They never taught us how to write a thesis, how to organize our ideas and how to improve our vocabulary. All the teachers would do is assigned a book to read and write a paper on what it was about. We never got the chance to write about a topic we were interested in or talk about our opinions on a certain topic.
After reading chapter six I liked how it was a transition from the previous chapters. This chapter was a little different to the ones before. This chapter explained on how every time we use language we send a message about our thinking. As humans, we send messages in different ways. For example it can be from speaking, writing, sharing ideas to another person, sharing our feelings all of these are ways we use language to share what we are thinking.
Over the last semester I have experienced and learned a lot that has helped me expand my writing. Throughout the semester, I thought it would be difficult to keep up and stay focused on one certain topic, but I know now that is not the case. I have found it is easy to focus on one topic because I began to know a lot about it and became more curious about the topic. I choose the topic rape only because I felt society was targeting the wrong audience. It seemed as throughout the past year more rape incidents have happened that are not dealt with correctly and I wanted to bring that to light.
In this article states that grammar is important because we use it for all day activities. But do grammar skills matter in job marketing? It does matter to have grammar skills in no matter what
Thank you for giving me this chance to talk about my English class, it was very excited to be a part of English 101 this quarter. We act as a family in this class by helping each other in writing, discussions stories and responding to each other. To be honest, I worked very hard this quarter and I focused more on my English class rather than other classes I had taken in SFCC. Writing is something not easy when it comes to my mind, because I am an international student and it is a differencet from my writing style and English writing style, so I should separate between them. I would not say writing English assignment is very hard for me, but I mean I make some mistakes.
The Modern English language has a rich history, it develops and changes like many other world languages. The English language has mainly been influenced by Latin, Germanic and French over a period of two thousand years. The English Lexicon includes words from over 120 countries, however Latin, Germanic and Latin account approximately less than 30% each. The English language is second to none in the variety and amount of lexical words. The most penetrating influence on English in history is French during the Middle English period after the Norman conquests.

TIP 5, PROOFREADING CHECKLIST When you use the grammar checker, you can usually press more than one button. One button might make a correction and another button might ignore a possible mistake. And other buttons doing other things as well mean you have a choice of several buttons. You might be pressing the wrong button.
Linguistics differs from traditional grammar in several basic ways. Linguists are interested that what is said, not ought to be said. They describe language in all its aspects, not prescribe rules of correctness. They regard the spoken language as primary not the written
Grammar is a system and structure of language. To me grammar is more than just knowing the rules and standards; it is being able to apply them in writing. Growing up I was taught all of the grammar rules through many grammar worksheets. However, my Pedagogical Grammar class gave me a new outlook on how to teach grammar. I will use strategies learned from my peers, research, experience, and my grammar class to explain how I will teach my students grammar.
