When most people think of the term “grease”, they think of the thick, oily substance used in cooking or on cars. The dictionary definition of this term is completely different to what comes to my mind when I hear this word. This word instantly generates memories and scenes of my childhood. To me, “grease” is the title of one of the best movies ever produced. Growing up, I would watch this film almost every day. Grease is a 1978 musical about a group of seniors at Rydell High School. It is about the life of high schoolers in the 50’s. Each character in this film plays a distinctive role, but the two that stood out most to me were Sandy and Rizzo. Though Sandy and Rizzo both taught important lessons in the film, they have a different mindset and approach. The two main female characters in the film Grease, Sandy and Rizzo, have some similar qualities, yet are completely different. This film portrays stereotypes and relationship drama that teenagers experience throughout high school. It has real life encounters, which is why the movie is so popular and relatable. It portrays real life encounters that teenagers can relate to. High school girls can classify themselves as a Sandy or a Rizzo. Sandy is the sweet and innocent school girl while Rizzo is the bold and rebellious chick. Everyone is analyzed from their physical features to their mental personalities. People are also put into categories based on the decisions they make. It is important to stay true to yourself and not give into peer pressure. Sandy and Rizzo helped form and shape me into the young woman I am today. I have gone through similar experiences in high school myself and made the right decision because of these two characters. Although, they are two completely different people, they both positively affected my life in some way. Though I see myself more in Sandy, I can also learn and grow from Rizzo and her

Kaylee looks up to Denise Salker because she 's someone you can always count on to be there for you, and she will love you no matter what. To Kaylee, Denise always has a good attitude about everything and expects the most of her because she knows that Kaylee is capable of anything. Mrs. Bak was Kaylee 's favorite coach because she was very encouraging and always understood her.
He was also one of the only people that have killed someone. He was also different than all the other greasers. Because he didn't get in that many fight or wasn't bad like Two-bit or Dally or even Darry. The only one he could really talk to was ponyboy
They all narrate and are the protagonist in their own story, and they all three by the end of the book go through a coming of age in character and maturity. Examples of this can be seen when Esperanza encounters sexual assault from a homeless person with her friend Rachel, when Melinda gets raped by Andy Evans, and when Scout comes to age about hatred and prejudice from the rape case against Tom Robinson. The three young girls are always facing trouble in their daily life that helps them develop. Esperanza for example comes in contact with sexual assault caused by a homeless person while with her friend Rachel. Melinda gets sexually assaulted by Andy Evans.
The parents of the Socs believe that it is their fault for their sons and daughters acting that way causing the Socs to think that the parents do not care about them. Therefore, both Greasers and Socs were trapped and forced to accept stereotype
Ponyboy feels that both gangs are actually very similar, but no one is able to accept each other for who they are so they judge each other on clothing, hair, smell, and even just the way they talk. To demonstrate this statement, at the drive-in movie theatre Cherry and Ponyboy talk about the main differences between Socs and greasers. In this section of the novel, Cherry reveals to Ponyboy that the main difference between the two was their set of values and emotions. In a brief paragraph, Cherry elucidates her point: “It’s not just money. Part of it is, but not all. You greasers have a different set of values.
The great philosopher Plato once said , “Any city, however small, is in fact divided into two, one the city of the poor, and the other of the rich; these are at the war with one another.” This quote perfectly summarizes the theme of S.E Hinton's novel, The Outsiders. The novel is about two gangs/groups that live in Rural, Oklahoma, the Greasers and the Socials. The Socs are the more affluent and often times referred to as the ‘West-side rich kids’, and the Greasers, are the less fortunate gang. Throughout the novel both gangs experience various types of conflict and at one point their differences ended up costing the life of a couple gang members.
It centers on females and how they act at that certain age. The four mean girls, Regina George, Gretchen Wieners, Karen Smith and Cady Heron represent the stereotypes of the popular girls of high school. The role of gender plays an important role in the movie. The movie discusses the aspects of how a “typical” teenage girl should be, in order for her to fit in.
