Marcelle’s Great Adventure “Travel and change of place impart new vigor to the mind” Seneca. I too feel that travel is healthy for the mind; the knowledge you gain from visiting new places is irreplaceable. My great adventure is going to take me to Tanzania, Africa. Why Tanzania? I want to witness the unspoiled beauty of this country and its vast wilderness areas. I no longer want to experience the magnificence of Africa through the television or a magazine; I want all my senses to benefit from the experience. I want to see, hear, smell, taste, and hopefully touch the wild animals that still exist and travel unsystematically over Tanzania’s plains and plateaus. Most importantly, I want to learn more about this magnificent outland. Now that …show more content…
I searched for hotels in Moshi, Tanzania, on travel.jumia.com, hotels.com, and tripadvisor.com. There are 75 hotels in Moshi and the one hotel that caught my eye was the Mountain Inn. The Mountain Inn provides free breakfast and parking, it has a swimming pool, it is charming and picturesque, the rate is very reasonable, and it has a restaurant that serves Indian and Tanzanian food. Let’s not forget to mention the fact that the Mountain Inn has impressive reviews; the Mountain Inn was given the Certificate of Excellence by TripAdvisor with 4 ½ stars out of 5 because it consistently earned great TripAdvisor reviews from travelers. Therefore, the Mountain Inn is the place for …show more content…
We were so close; I was staring at him for a long time and felt a recognition with my own nature” Bai Ling. At last, the piece de resistance: the safari! Since there are over 200 tour operators in Moshi, it can be daunting to choose one. For me, I need to personally talk to a live person when planning something of this magnitude; I don’t want to plan it on a website. Once again I turned to tripadvisor.com to get some insight on the tour operators operating out of Moshi, Tanzania. Makasa Tanzanian Safaris received excellent reviews from this site, 5 stars, and above all received the TripAdvisor Certificate of Excellence. I then went to safaribookings.com to check out Makasa’s reviews and out of 197 reviews they received a perfect 5 stars, they can’t get any better advertising that that. Both tripadvisors.com and safaribookings.com reviews expressed that the owner, Selma, was involved in all aspects of planning the safari and returned phone calls promptly; this is exactly what I am looking for. The travelers that gave the reviews also emphasized that Makasa Tanzania Safaris gave them a trip of a life time. I also read about them on their own site, makasatanzania.com. Makasa Tanzania Safaris is an independent tour operator operating out of Moshi, Tanzania; their typical clients include families, groups of friends, and couples. For all these excellent qualities, I am going to book my safari with

Mary Walters Michael Lynch Section 003 Dude, Othering is So Not Cool Anymore In the years of Marco Polo (1254-1324) leading to the Ethiopian Age of Exploration (1306-1458), othering, orientalism, and racism was a big leading factor of separation between civilizations. The initial Back to Africa Movement in United States history was led by Paul Cuffee. Cuffee was the child of Kofi Slocum and was born on Cuttyhunk Island, which is off the coast of southern Massachusetts. Cuffee began his career as a sailor, which eventually turned into a successful ship enterprise. Unfortunately, his ship was seized in 1812 during a journey from Sierra Leone to Great Britain; it was an attack or violation of the newly established U.S. 1807 embargo on British goods. Eventually, under the control of his ship the Traveler, Cuffee successfully transported 38 free-willing African Americans back to Africa through their own wishes- this was the first up-and-coming African-led emigration.
Loneliness and depression throughout children’s lives is an issue that affects the future of the world. Congo, a small country in Africa, suffers greatly from these issues. There is an old Moorish proverb that reads, “He who does not travel, does not know the value of man.” That quote resonates deep within me because I have a yearning to use my education to empower those in need. In order to do so, I need to see and experience the world outside of the one I am accustomed to. Curiosity is one of the traits that define the person that I am; because of this trait I always ask questions about the world around me and the people I meet. This is one of the driving forces behind my desire to venture outside of the United States to learn a new language and culture.

Most people dream about sudden trips to exotic lands or planned voyages to previously familiar locations, but what is it that drives us to seek to leave our home? Why is it that we travel, even if we are completely comfortable in the country we live in? Pico Iyer, in his travel essay titled ‘Why We Travel’ states different reasons why he believes we seek the unknown. One of the points he claims that we travel for the “self and anonymity”.
