First I explored the Greek religions. I learned that Ancient Greeks used some forms of platonism. According to google, platonism is the belief that physical objects are impermanent representations of unchanging Ideas, and that the Ideas alone give true knowledge as they are known by the mind. Then I looked at some Greek traditions. Most of the

How one river changed a Civilization Ancient Egypt has had many great discoveries and natural resources from their land that have really changed their society. One of the most important resources to them was the Nile river Valley. It has been said that without the Nile river Egyptian Civilization would not have been possible (Life along the Nile). The Nile river running as the longest river in the world is 4184 miles long.
The Egyptian empire started in around 2920 BCE, when the Pharaohs of Upper Egypt and Lower Egypt into one all-powerful civilization, and ended in 30 BCE, when it was conquered. Isn’t it weird that Ancient Egyptians were able to thrive in a desert while creating monuments and world wonders? The Egyptians had a secret. They had the Nile River. The Nile River is the longest river in the world, around 4,000 miles long!
Goal for my audience: I want my audience to get to know the impact Pi Beta Phi has made on my life. Introduction “When you’re a Pi Phi, you will find a support system like no other. The bond of sisterhood means that you will be surrounded by amazing women that will push you to become the best you can be, offer advice and support in times of need, and help you laugh and have fun through your college years. It doesn’t matter what competitions we win or what awards we receive; what matters is that everyone is allowed to be themselves and each member makes friendships and memories that will last a lifetime.”
How Did the Nile River Shape Ancient Egypt? The Greek historian Herodotus once wrote, “Egypt… is, so to speak, the gift of the Nile.”(Doc. E) Ancient Egypt was one of the most important river civilizations. It was located around the world’s longest river, the Nile River.
On a reading of the Homeric Hymn to Demeter which regards Persephone, Demeter's daughter, as being representative of spring, the myth of Persephone's kidnapping by Hades can be interpreted as allegorical of the changing of the seasons. In particular, Persephone can be considered as a metaphor for the planting of seeds. While she is kept underground in the realm of Hades during the winter, no crops are grown and the land is barren. However, as the winter transitions into the spring Persephone emerges from the underworld, much like a budding plant, and reunites with her mother and the other Olympian gods and goddesses above ground. When Persephone is relegated to live with Hades she falls into a depression and becomes, figuratively speaking,
Ancient Egypt’s organization of settlement distribution would be greatly different without the Nile. First
Ancient Egypt SLL 1057F Amber Waynik WYNAMB001 Tutorial group 2 Jessica Nitschke 1.Hymn to the Nile i) The phenomenon that the “Hymn to the Nile “responds to the dependency of the Egyptian people on the Nile river. The text shows that the Nile river served as a source of life which sustained and provided all for Egyptians “who creates all that is good” (“Hymn to the Nile” stanza 9). The text asks questions about who controls the Nile and why it flow the way it does - the text itself answers that it is the Egyptian god Hapy who controls the Nile.
The features that makes the myth Demeter and Persephone a fertility myth because it is used to explain the origins of the seasons. Demeter who is Persephone’s mother, is the Goddess of agriculture. This is why food and crops can’t be grown in the winter, Persephone is sent six months out of the year to be Hades wife, which is why we have a dormant growing season called winter. (1) I think if you look deeper and don’t just look at the seasons of this myth but rather the seeds and the crops. Persephone is like a seed, every year she needs to return underground, then every spring she is reborn again when she returns to the living.
Egyptian Civilization: Egypt was built on both the sides of the River Nile. Egypt has the huge Mediterranean Sea as one boundary while the other boundary was a huge desert. The Nile is the only real river in the whole of North Africa, a phenomenon that gave the inhabitants of the valley a great advantage over all the other peoples west of them. In Egyptian society, the grain is considered the most important element. The female community was treated with respect.
This essay will discuss the origin of Ancient Egyptian Mythology and its impact of the social aspects of Egyptian life, while also showing how it is historically significant. Ancient Egyptian Mythology had a significant impact on the way the Egyptians thought and lived. Their religion and culture was all based on the belief of the mythology. Thus the social aspects of the ancient Egyptians lives were greatly influenced by this. Due to trade with the Egyptians some of their ideas spread to many other countries and even today the Egyptian ties can still be felt, thus making their mythology and how it impacted the social aspects of their lives historically significant.
