Green tea and its antimicrobial tendency
Green tea was originated in china but is widely used in all the asian countries. Green tea has large amount of health benefits as its retains large amiunt of antioxidants and poly phenols during is processing.Green tea is derived from the leaves of camellia sinensis plant.Camellia is a genus of flowering plants in the family theaceae. Some health benefits of green tea are:
1. It helps reduce weight. The poly phenol present intensifies the level of fat oxidation and helps turn food into calories.

It is produced from the leaves of plant camellia which is commanly grown in many countries. It is mainly of four types white, green, oolong, and back tea. Black tea is made from fully fermented leaves of the plant, oolong tea from partially fermented leaves, white tea from bud of the plant or very young leaves, and green tea from mature unfermented leaves.
Green tea have shown to be great antioxidants,as the limit the amount of free radicals by binding to reactive oxigen species; they are aso anti inflammatory,which can be the result of increase in IL-10(an anti inflammatory cytokine) ; anti carcinogenic, seen in may types of cancers, green tea inhibits angiogenesis and cell growth also apoptosis of cancerous cells
It is also observed that green tea has antimicrobial tendency. The main cause of dental caries in bacteria streptococcus mutans. It inhibits the attachment of this bacterial on the oral surface.
Its has also shown to have antimicrobial effects against variety of gram positive and gram negetive bacterias like escherichia coli, salmonella spp., staphylococcus aureus, etc
