The Main Greenhouse Gasses
• Water vapor (H2O)
• Carbon dioxide (CO2)
• Methane (CH4)
• Nitrous oxide (N2O)
• Ozone (O3)
• Chlorofluorocarbons (CFCs)

Explaining Greenhouse gasses, Greenhouse Effect and Global Warming
Greenhouse gasses are the gasses that absorb Infrared (IR) radiation in the atmosphere. These Greenhouse gasses contribute to the Greenhouse Effect and the Greenhouse Effect is one of the main causes for Global Warming.
What is global warming? Global warming is when the Earth’s temperature rises above the normal, due to too many greenhouse gasses in the Earth’s atmosphere, trapping an abnormal amount of heat.
The amount of greenhouse gasses has increased gradually in recent times. When the world evolved and

The largest known contribution comes from the burning of fossil fuels, which releases carbon dioxide gas to the atmosphere.
Some examples:
• When humans drive their cars they burn petrol (fossil fuel), polluting the air. This adds to the greenhouse gasses which trap the heat in the atmosphere. Every day, thousands of cars are driven around the world, releasing more pollution as a whole, trapping even more heat and increasing the severity of global warming.

• When humans use electricity produced by coal power plants, the air is polluted and adds more greenhouse gasses into the air.

• Deforestation is also a human activity contributing to global warming. Trees take in carbon dioxide and without trees more carbon dioxide roams free in the air thus adding onto global warming.

Global Warming and its consequences to Ecology
Global warming has made the sea level rise, this is because the glaciers and land ice melts due to global warming. Many animals whom were once living on the land ice have lost their habitats and many animals have died. The sea levels also rose because salt water expands in volume when

Warmer temperatures also mean higher evaporation rates and this results in thirstier plants and people, which then would increase demands for water.
So, as we can see global warming has a very negative consequences on Ecology. Many habitats are destroyed, resources become scarce as well as the living conditions worsens.

Solutions to the problem of Global Warming
• As we know, Coal power plants release Greenhouse gasses resulting in Global Warming. Perhaps, we could use power generated by hydroelectric power stations or Wind Farms. Solar energy could also be for electricity.

• Perhaps people could carpool with people whom are going to the same destination or taking a public transport system. A public transport system carries more people and uses less electricity.

• Stop deforestation and allow the trees to take in the carbon dioxide as carbon dioxide is the prominent greenhouse gas.

• Use recycled products as well as to recycle yourself, this cuts down on the amount of deforestation and once again lessen the Carbon Dioxide in the air

• Use less electricity as many fossil fuels are released from coal power plants

• Always remember to turn off unnecessary lights and conserve
