It was sad to be taken to a concentration camp because it meant that it was the end of your life.

During those four years, many Jews died one way or another. But after 1938, all authority of imprisonment fell to the Nazis (www.ushmm.org Concentration Camps). This was the cause that forced nearly all Jews into cattle cars within a month.

With such dreadful conditions, the Jews began initiating resistance and uprisings. Even though the prisoners knew loss was unquestionable, they fought bravely and certain. The Jews wanted the future generation to know that they would never give up without a fight. The Nazi officers kept watch of the prisoners every second; the inhumanity of the guards murdered the spirit of the Jews. Because of the environment of the camps, a countless number of Jews died every day. The conditions while working in camps made resistance strenuous, yet the Jews still desired to disobey. Taking the lives of 6 million Jews alone, the Holocaust is one of , if not the, greatest tragedies in history. It is completely deranged that at one point in time, millions of people stood by and supported Adolf Hitler. Adolf was a man who stored so much hatred towards Jews, homosexuals, Gypsies, etc., that he found it acceptable to kill them through mass shootings, gassings, and Nazi camps. Other times called ‘concentration camps,’ the mere idea of Nazi camps was purely wicked. Disease, forced labor, starvation, and murder are only a few things that were incorporated into these camps. During this time, Jews (and every other group affected) were absolutely dehumanized. Once they arrived to these camps, typically through compact trains, they were not only stripped of the few items they had brought, but were stripped of their names, families and friends, usual lives, and any dignity or hope they had once had.

Over 11 million civilians were murdered in between the time period of January 30, 1933 to May 8, 1945. These innocent people were murdered in various, inhumane ways such as firing line, terrible living conditions, gassing with the use of carbon dioxide and Zyklon B, and forcing people to work until death. The Holocaust is one of, if not the darkest time in the history of human life on Earth. Many people committed suicide or suicide by guard because they did not and could not stand the conditions they were forced to live in. Most knew what their fate was and when it came time for them to meet their fate, they would kill themselves or have guards kill them. Auschwitz was the main camp everyone knew about, but there were other camps that were unknown or forgotten such as Chelmno or Belzec.

The Holocaust was a horrific tragedy which started in January of 1933 and ended in May of 1945, the Holocaust was the mass murder of millions of people. The word was derived from the Greek word that meant Sacrifice to the Gods (Steele 7), also called the Shoan which is the Hebrew word for catastrophe (Steele 7). There was a horrific event that lasted twelve years. This event was fueled by hate for an entire group of people. For twelve long years six million Jewish men, women, and children were hunted down and killed. This event is known as the Holocaust and to prevent something as horrific as this we must research and study the Holocaust.

Starving, cold, unclothed, sick, and hard working people were all put in concentration camps and treated horribly. The Jewish workers worked hard all day everyday or else they would get killed. The way the Nazi’s treated the Jews was extremely bad, the Jews would not get food, clothes, beds, and other necessities. There were all types of camps that had all kinds of jobs, you were assigned a job and didn 't get to pick a job. The Jews had a very compact schedule, they were busy all day, never any time to waste. Since no doctors, lots of diseases got passed around throughout the camps. The life of Jews controlled by Nazi’s was no life to live.
