When Bruce Tuckman proposed the model of group development in 1965, the model assumed four stages which include forming-storming-norming-performing stages. However, a fifth model was introduced to encapsulate the already functioning model and this model became known as the adjourning phase (Bauer & Erdogan, 2009, p. 191). This group development stages will now be described below: The first stage in the group development model is the forming stage which is a time when a group officially comes together for the first time. This stage is full of uncertainty as people do not know what role they might be asked to play and what level of behavior is accepted or not accepted. It’s a time when individuals try to get acquainted with each other and discuss issues while observing the general environment.

According to the book, there are two main moral calamities: me vs us and us vs them. Often a greedy behavior may lead to an undesirable and destructive outcomes, which may happen at an individual level as well as a group or tribal level. An example is the tragedy of the commons, where if all the involved parties behave greedily in favor of their “me”, they all face an undesirable outcome for all. These are situations where the best outcome can be achieved only through cooperation. The author noted that our ingrained moral responses evolved to avoid our me vs us quandaries and automatically favor “us” through cooperation over greedy “me.” However, this also makes us tribal, which appears to be a problem when tribes face a confrontational situation, and cooperation at the tribal level becomes necessary.
We worked very hard on this final presentation. We met up together about twice every week leading up to the second presentation and we would accomplish a lot every time we met. Everyone would contribute ideas and we worked as a team to give it our best effort by assigning everyone a position on our responsibility charts. In the end, I will definitely miss our team so much. This team was by far, was the best group of people I have ever worked with throughout my college career, and I was so lucky to have them as my team members throughout this semester in my Team Development Workshop

Working with someone I don’t agree with makes it very hard to progress on a project. Usually when I work with someone annoying we do our own thing, and when due date comes it seems that there are two different projects. Or we can’t decide on what to do and are running around like crazy because we spent too much time arguing, and the rushing leads to more disagreement.
