The group presentation presentation of explaining a $100 word challenge was an interactive and creative game. The strength of the presentation was the ability to make is challenging but also interactive but also educational. Allowing our classmates to critically think of words to come up with but also counting money made the game interesting. People were being asked to count money and many of our classmate were getting competitive to find a word that will add up to $100. All our classmates seemed to be having fun with the variey of money additional problems that were had for them. The game it self can be presented to a group of 2nd grade students based on the engagements we saw from our peers. Using thins game will definitely be used in my future teaching. The game can be adaptable to any grade level or students’ mathematical level. Knowing how to challenge students with the simplicity of the game will keep students engaged in …show more content…
When we selected the $100 word game, my role was to create the chart for the powerpoint presentation. I also helped Kristine with the lesson format of the activity. Also, when the lesson plan and powerpoint was completed together we all went through both to avoid any errors or confusion. We talked about what we wanted to achieve within each slide and how we will present it. After we completed the presentation, my role was to post the lesson plan on discussion board. I made sure everyone was aware of when I posted it and we all agreed on what was on the lesson just in case someone wanted to make a change. The day of the presentation, we all meet to talk about how to present the lesson. My role was to talk about how the game will be played by giving an example with the use of Linda’s name. Overall, I felt that my roles was to help on the lesson and to take on the responsibility of posting the lesson to discussion
If a video or audio work sample occurs in a group context (e.g., discussion), provide the name of the clip and clearly describe how the scorer can identify the focus student(s) (e.g., position, physical description) whose work is portrayed. [ ] 3. Developing Students’ Mathematical Understanding a. Based on your analysis of the focus students’ work samples, write a targeted learning objective/goal for the students related to the area of struggle. [Students will compare two three-digit numbers by completing the place value model, producing an accurate number sentence with the appropriate inequality symbol, and discussing their solutions.]
To complete this assignment, I first went online to search for fifth-grade fraction activities, with a focus on multiplication. After reviewing numerous potential activities I eventually landed on Fraction Flip-It, which is a game that allows students to create their own fractions depending on where they place the cards drawn. This was a large draw because the game could be played any number of times without students solving the same equation over and over. Once I had settled on the activity and how it would be set up, I began building a lesson around it. I wanted to make sure students had the necessary knowledge to succeed, which is why I included the pre-assessment Plicker quiz.
Say, “Everyone come to the rug so you can watch another fun video about shapes. Today we’ll be working with squares and rectangles and their parts.” 2. Play the videos 3. Ask the students, “What are the parts of a square?
Roles and responsibilities Our team was responsible for the creation of a full job pack that included the job advert, job description, the job application and the person specification. Each one of us had to focus on different parts of the documents in order to create a quality pack of document that would be given to the other team. Each one of us was responsible for their part of the document to do it to a high standard and not leave it as an early draft and make it look as much as the real thing as it would be possible.
For many years it was thought that video games have bad impact on students and their learning. This article is proving that video games actually helping students to learn, by providing them games that are fun and actually teaches them something. Now kids can learn in their homes as well because they have access to their learning material anywhere at anytime. It also helps them to learn better because now they have to learn something before moving to the next section, unlike how school systems work. “Is Homework Beneficial to Students?”.
Students learned the Grab Bag Game more or less and The Bicycle Race Game. They learned the bicycle race by remembering how to double a number. Friday the students did not have school.
For example if the teacher asks the children to create a cat from play dough, she should also create her a cat from the play dough and show the class her attempt at making a cat out of the play dough and she will enhance and encourage the learners to create their own because hers is just a mere guideline another example would be if at the beginning of the lesson the teacher says children put on your aprons as we going to do art today, at the same time she is busy putting on her apron. Teacher as a participator The teacher as a participator helps guide the children but not by physically doing their work for them. Children enjoys having an adult’s participation, especially when they feel they stuck or not certain if what they doing is right.
Last spring I was enrolled in GCOM 123: Group Presentations. About two weeks into the class, I was assigned my group, which I would work with for the entire semester. For our first presentation, I met my group members at Carrier Library in a study room. My group consisted of five people who for the purpose of this assignment I will call Joe, Sally, Amy, Danielle and myself. During our meeting there was a major lack of motivation and it was startlingly clear nothing was being accomplished.
If the students remain interested and the students give positive feedback on the games, being played the ultimate goal of learning will be
Lesson 12- Students gave their preference to which country they would expand their soda company to and had to back their decision with support from data Lesson 3-Rolling dice game with partners gave students the chance to practice using the exponent properties and then checking their answers with their partners Lesson 4- Students combined their individual properties posters to create a large group poster. They had to make a list of similarities and difference between all their posters. Lesson 8- Students had to think, pair, share on which property of exponents they would be applying to the new concept of multiplying/dividing numbers in scientific notation Lesson 4-Students were able to create properties of exponents posters, collaborate and they were posted in the hall way
This will be a perfect way to make them visual and understand the concept of math. The students can create a real world activity in their room. Let the students think and bring out their own knowledge that they have inside to learn what the teacher is
What did you do as a team member in establishing goals and a framework for teaching? Whitney and I worked together to create our lesson plan and we discussed what we wanted students to accomplish at the end of our lesson. Once we finished planning out how we wanted our lesson to go we practiced before Borlaug Day and split up the responsibilities. Whitney started out the introduction and then from there were switched off on which one of us were teaching the students throughout each time we taught it.
In school, lectures to young students can be very boring and cause them to get side track and not pay attention which could be harmful to their grade, but what if you put the teaching into a video game? It is almost sure that a young student would sit and pay attention as he or she plays the game to finish the level, but in the end actually learn something. On another aspect, Sohn also has another quote from Gee exclaiming, “Kids diagnosed with ADHD because they can 't pay attention will play games for 9 straight hours on the computer . . . The game focuses attention in a way that school
Small calculations of addition and subtraction are involved in such games. Children, who play such games, will eventually become master in doing small calculations. Children are not good at small calculations even. Many parents are not even aware of this; when they will play such board games with their children, they may come to know about this. On children end, they will get to do small calculations with interest and result will be their improved small calculations skills.
Participating in this role play was much easier to handle. Especially when it comes down to me playing in character. I learned with the first set of role plays that I am good at getting assigned a role and playing it well. I like that the scenario was picked out and it was myself and partner responsibility to make the whole role play come together playing the roles of social workers. What we did first was sat down together to figure out the family in which we had.
