This particular incident was interesting because the boy had the surname Cleveland, like the democratic presidential candidate, and after the boy was born Maria was taken away to a mental asylum. Once it was discovered there was no cause for the admission she was released. Suspicion around the incident grew and on October 31, 1884 Halpin gave an interview to the Chicago Tribune and said, "The circumstances under which my ruin was accomplished are too revolting on the part of Grover Cleveland to be made public.” Not only did this confirm the belief that Grover Cleveland was the father but after this publication Cleveland himself was interviewed on the topic. He claimed that there could have been a number of men who were the father. Word got back to Halpin, who was furious at this point. She then again went on record and stated, "There is not and never was a doubt as to the paternity of our child, and the attempt of Grover Cleveland or his friends to couple the name of Oscar Folsom or any one else with that of the boy, for that purpose, is simply infamous and false.” After all this information came to light the Republicans created a new chant for Cleveland. During Rally's and other public events republican supporters would shout out, "Ma, Ma, where's my Pa." However, once the democrat won the election his supporters would respond to the shouting with, "Going to the White House, Ha Ha Ha." John F. Kennedy was the youngest president to step foot in the White House, and he was also known for his various affairs. Biographer Robert Dallek described Kennedy as a "compulsive womanizer" and based on the number of accused affairs it is safe to say Dallek's description is accurate. Even one of Kennedy's close friends Florida Senator George Smathers stated, "Jack liked girls... he was a great chaser." By far the most popular rumored affair was

Vice President John Calhoun’s wife led the other wives in snubbing the Eatons at social gatherings. The wives thought of Peggy as too flirtatious and too outlandish mostly because she didn’t wait the expected amount of time until remarriage. Because Andrew Jackson’s wife, Rachel Jackson, wasn’t legally divorced to her former husband before remarrying to Jackson, he was furious when Peggy was treated the same and demanded everyone treat her as an equal. The wives were flustered with Jackson’s demands and forced their husbands to resign from office, including Eaton and Van Buren. The mass resignations led Jackson to form a “Kitchen Cabinet” filled with immoral advisors.

In general I would say Richard Nixon was a fairly decent president. During a time where there were many protests amongst the American public (especially the youth) against the troops in Vietnam, Nixon was able to pull the troops out of the war. Nixon also reduced the tensions with the Soviet Union, and helped China join the United Nations. He also helped decrease the amount of racial discrimination by segregating schools in the south. It is a shame though, that those achievements of his are not acknowledged because of the Watergate Scandal.

The Race to Space served as an ample distraction for the United States during this time, which led citizens to gather to the cause. Along with being the youngest elected president, Kennedy was president during a time of tremendously high tension from Cuba, Communist pressure, nuclear coercions, and Vietnam. Kennedy alludes to the atrocities of the world, and tempts the audience to further space exploration as he states, “Whether it will become a force for good or ill depends on man, and only if the United States occupies a position of pre-eminence can we help decide whether this new ocean will be a sea of peace or a new terrifying theater of war” (Kennedy). He casually references about the tensions the United States had with other countries;
