Growing up in a family of social workers, concern for others welfare was at a forefront of my upbringing. Throughout my life I have been surrounded by vulnerable individuals: foster kids, addicts, and those who are forgotten by the system. Being apart of their struggles has softened my heart and made me passionate about bettering the world. From my perspective, the most efficient way to improve society is to protect those whom it neglects by being a lawyer. Since I was young, I loved to learn. Knowledge, in my opinion, opens up doors and changes lives. Curiosity was vibrant inside of me. Higher education was never a question for me. Ive been determined to better myself, expand my horizons, and use all my experiences to effect change. By working hard throughout high school, I have prepared myself and proved myself to be a worthy candidate to be apart of a prestigious college. No matter where I end up, I am positive that I will be on the right …show more content…
My mother and my 11th grade English teacher come to mind. As a social worker, my mother works within the foster care system, working with families who are trying to keep their kids. The individuals she works with aren't bad people, they are people who have been forgotten and have been taught no other way of life. However, working in child welfare has given my mother experiences she would rather forget. To see the things she has seen and still serve others with a compassionate heart, inspires me daily. Ms. Nitting, my English teacher, comes from a different background. After being hugely successful on wall street, she left behind a Vice President job and a high paying salary when she realized her purpose wasn't being fulfilled. Unselfishly, she began to teach. As soon as I walked into her classroom my mind was expanded. By filling us with questions and curiosity she motivated me to never stop learning, and for that i'm eternally
Initially, my entire high school career, I have worked exceedingly with every activity that I have done. In this case, maintaining a 3.6 GPA and ranking 14 out of 122 of my classmates has shown my commitment to my education. While attending school every day, I cultivate my academic skills to overachieve expectations. To
Throughout my past four years at Weddington High School, I am inspired by the impact my teachers have given me. I believe education is the greatest gift you can give to a person who is striving to make a difference. This is something that I have been interested in for several years. I am currently a teacher assistant for Mrs. Donna Nunn’s Microsoft Word and PowerPoint class that allows me to see how lesson plans are carried out in a classroom environment and I know that this experience has given me a stronger desire to become a teacher. During my freshman year of high school, Ms. Marisa DiFronzo made literature become a very engaging subject for me, not only by her way of teaching but also her ability to bring the class together as one.
Everyone has someone in their life that gives them a great amount of inspiration. The people that have given me the most inspiration are my Grandparents. My Mamaw has done a great deal for me in my life. My Papaw has done something with his life that nobody expected him to do. My Grandparents have greatly changed my life.
I remember the talks my mother gave me each morning in our 1997 Aerostar van, which my mother had cleaned houses to pay for. She always instilled that we were fortunate, even if we were struggling, we were fortunate. She had jobs, she had her health, we were a family, and for those things we would always have to be grateful. My love for academics immediately set me apart from the world in which I had always been an insider. I was immediately labeled differently from my family members outside of my immediate family, who felt that academic pursuits were a waste of time and money.
My academic achievements throughout my high school career show that hard work and dedication truly do pay off in the long run. All throughout my sophomore
I learned how to adapt to the individual needs of students to provide them the best education. Like students with a communication disorder, many of my students would shy away from activities or tasks because of obstacles. Through these experiences, I watched my students gain the confidence to participate in activities and excel in academics to become successful individuals. As a future Speech Language Pathologist, many qualities that I possess can be improved by furthering my education.
Arne Duncan, an American education administrator once said, “When I ask teachers why they teach, they almost always say that it is because they want to make a difference in the lives of children.” This statement hold true for countless teachers across the nation, and Mr. Warren Bowe is no exception. The moment the assignment was in my hands I began brainstorming possible candidates for the interview. Although I was disappointed I could not interview my former A.P. English teacher Mrs. Bowe, I was just as delighted to interview her husband, Mr. Bowe, whom taught English at Chippewa Falls Senior High School as well.
On top of that, she was able to pursue her dreams. She got her bachelor's degree in teaching and is now a teacher at a charter school in NYC. She has inspired me and showed me that hard work really does pay off. Another person who shows me that in order to get ahead in life is through hard work is my grandma. My grandma is a woman who came to this country to make life better for her ten children.
Overall, I wish to attend college to better all aspects of my life. I desire to maximize my potential and work ethic to become better. Being a first generation student will not be easy, for I have no one to tell me about experiences. I am very proud and honored to tell people that I am in college.
It was important for me to continue my education, especially in this field as it has always been a dream of mine. In my family neither of my parents attended college, through the years I have watched them do jobs they hated so me and my siblings could be successful. As I got older my brother attended college, be prospered and graduated in four years. He now has a steady job and
Despite the fact that teachers do not reap well-paid financial benefits, they do however obtain other expressive rewards. For example, seeing an honored parent's tears of happiness and a student’s unexpected understanding of an idea and the unexplored depths of the mind discovered. The desire to become a teacher cannot be something that occurs overnight. This choice has to become a lifestyle that consumes ¾ of the average day. A culmination of situations helped advance the process chosen at hand.
Many teachers enter the profession with their own ideas of how to teach, and I was no exception. My teaching ideas were grounded in the concept that every student was teachable, and that I, unlike most teachers before me, would be able to unlock the learning for every student. I thought that all my students will turn from their unproductive ways, regardless of their life experiences, and become serious students. I wanted to be a teacher who positively influenced many young lives, and inspired all my students to bright futures in the pursuit of education. I entered the field of education because of me wanting to help humanity and make a difference.
I decided to pursue a career as a teacher because I can’t remember a time where I wanted to do any other job more. It is easy to become discouraged about going into education because teachers don’t make the most money and they aren’t always valued as much they should be. People constantly remind me of the “downfalls” of being a teacher but it has never scared me away. I figure that those people don’t have what it takes to be an educator. I think that all students deserve to have a teacher that chooses to be there everyday because they genuinely care about seeing them succeed.
My high school is highly competitive and I’m grateful that I was surrounded by such wonderful peers and teachers. Completing high school, I received 12th place out of almost 450 students, with a weighted GPA of 4.244. Despite my hard course load,
What lies in the heart of a good teacher? Over a year ago if I had read this question I would not have put much thought into the subject at hand. Now I find that the very basis of my existence pivots on this one idea. Growing up, attending school was thought to be just a necessary step for one to secure a job; not much thought was given to question why school education was as important as it is to me now. The gift of knowledge is a powerful tool, with it only the bounds of your imagination are at cause for one’s limitations.
