Growing up in a family of social workers, concern for others welfare was at a forefront of my upbringing. Throughout my life I have been surrounded by vulnerable individuals: foster kids, addicts, and those who are forgotten by the system. Being apart of their struggles has softened my heart and made me passionate about bettering the world. From my perspective, the most efficient way to improve society is to protect those whom it neglects by being a lawyer. Since I was young, I loved to learn. Knowledge, in my opinion, opens up doors and changes lives. Curiosity was vibrant inside of me. Higher education was never a question for me. Ive been determined to better myself, expand my horizons, and use all my experiences to effect change. By working hard throughout high school, I have prepared myself and proved myself to be a worthy candidate to be apart of a prestigious college. My mother and my 11th grade English teacher come to mind. As a social worker, my mother works within the foster care system, working with families who are trying to keep their kids. The individuals she works with aren't bad people, they are people who have been forgotten and have been taught no other way of life. However, working in child welfare has given my mother experiences she would rather forget. To see the things she has seen and still serve others with a compassionate heart, inspires me daily. Ms. Nitting, my English teacher, comes from a different background. After being hugely successful on wall street, she left behind a Vice President job and a high paying salary when she realized her purpose wasn't being fulfilled. Unselfishly, she began to teach. As soon as I walked into her classroom my mind was expanded. By filling us with questions and curiosity she motivated me to never stop learning, and for that i'm eternally
