OBJECTIVE The objective of the project was to analyze the manpower planning at a leading food chain and the changes made to handle the Diwali Rush. We chose GULAB Wala for our research. We chose two outlets one in sector 17 Gurgaon and the other one in Rajouri Garden, New Delhi and studied the manpower planning at these two outlets. ADD 2. ABOUT GULAB Gulab was stablished in 1912 as a retail and manufacturing set up for Gajaks and Rewari in Rohtak (Haryana) by Lala Shivnath Rai Sumer Chand. It is especially famous for its wide variety of Rewari, Gajjaks and Chikkis. Currently, the chain has its sweets and restaurant outlets in various cities in North India: Delhi, Gurgaon, Rohtak, Ludhiana, Kurukshetra, Panchkula, Ambala, Chandigarh and Ghaziabad. They are given a high bonus on Diwali equalent to one month’s salary by the owner himself. The attrition rate is very low and no employees leave job during Diwali because of increased work load. The only time an employee may leave work is under a rare case of emergency. The working hours of every employee are fixed and never increase during increased work load. The increased work load is managed by changing shifts. The employees feel that the working environment is less stringent and they are granted leave if they submit an application to the HR head.
