Gun Control And Gun Safety

Police officers use guns to enforce the law and to protect civilians against anyone who may want to harm them. Everyday people may even use guns to protect themselves from criminals who attack those they feel would make an easy target. Some people use guns for recreation and only fire them at target ranges simply for fun. However, guns can be used in much more sinister ways as well.

While a man from the NRA, Brian Calabrese, said self-defense is used in various ways, the thought of a panicked person with a gun during a crime is not beneficial. From my perspective, I don’t want to live in a society where the at any point in time, I should be ready to shoot a gun. The arms race which Kelly Sampson was talking about, also made me think about how different society would be if the arms race ensued. Most of society would have to adapt to the norm of owning a gun, which would force the criminals to get stronger and higher capacity firearms. In this hypothetical society, I believe there would be a much higher death and crime rate.

Two things that do not go hand in hand with one another is Crime and guns. Gun control issues have been a huge problem in the United states for forever and a day. No matter what happens when violence and guns get in contact the problem pays us all a visit. The big question is real, If having new laws for guns, will it decide/figure out the crime rate in the United States? My opinion is that the new gun laws will figure out the crime rate because so many issues/problems will be solved in the united states.

In 1939, Germany established gun control. From 1939 to 1945, six million Jews and seven million others unable to defend themselves had their lives taken away. [1] Could this outcome have changed if the Jews were armed with guns? Could thirteen million innocent lives have been saved? Does taking away firearms help someone in a situation like this?

Gun Control in America Gun control in America is a highly debated subject. James Wilson speaks against gun control in his article “Gun Control Isn’t the Answer”. Gun laws need to be more restricted. Gun control reform is needed to safeguard children and prevent access to those with mental illness and a criminal background. Wilson talks about the shooting at Virginia Tech using it as a platform to talk about people not weapons being responsible for the tragedy.

In America, 37 states abide by the ‘Shall Issue’ providing that, upon completion of specified requirements, a law-abiding person

Gun control problems Nowadays, we can hear the crimes related to guns from time to time, and each of them is scarified and influential. For example, the accident happened in Sandy Hook Elementary School leads to 20 deaths for primacy school students and 6 deaths for staffs. It is hard to imagine what degree of sadness in their family may suffer. In this way, many people think the government should have stronger gun control regulations.

Gun Control Gun control is one of the most talked about issues in America with the many mass shootings in the past years. People are scared and worried for themselves and their families, most of these people want guns to be banned or at least restricted. While the other part of Americans believe that guns are not the issue and feel that banning them would go against their constitution right to bear arms. As of 2013 an estimated 270 million total guns are registered to people in the United States.

Guns are extremely powerful weapons. They can cause destruction, harm or even death. They can be used to defend and protect or to threaten and kill. Any way you look at it, guns are powerful tools, not only physically but socially.

Gun control also limits our constitutionally derived right to own firearms. If gun control is enforced, law-abiding citizens will be forced to give up their guns and their right to own guns, while many criminals who own guns may illegally keep theirs. As the saying goes “If guns are outlawed, only outlaws will have guns.” Guns are an important aspect of our society in many ways. They allow for protection, recreation, and hunting.

A gun is made to be used at its full capability.  Weapons are used also for protection over your family,(“A ban on assault weapons would not reduce crime”) also said, “ California 's murder rate increased every year for five years, twenty-six percent total. That is a perfect example of why some people feel the need to keep a gun or firearm in their homes, they are aware of the murder rate due to the media. People do not want to take a chance on someone hurting them so they feel the need to have one, witch is understandable because the murder rate has raised in the last 5 years there. You don’t want your firearm to not be able to be used to its maximum strength at a time if someone was to try to harm you, you would want it to be able to be used at its maximum strength to be able to protect you from harm.

Guns are just a tool, like knives and hammers and it completely depends on the people on how they use it. People who support guns and arms say that the Second Amendment secures individual’s right to carry guns with them and that gun rights is needed for self-protection, and was intended for military to have peace and defend the country if needed (Spitzer, 70). Most of the Americans use guns as a source to protect themselves and they believe that gun ownership prevents crime. A study conducted on November 26, 2013 showed that bans on weapons did not significantly affect murder rates at the state level (Lane, 5). Moreover, even if the rules and regulations are executed on gun control, not all criminals obey the law.

One day there could be an intruder in your home and about to cause harm to your family , if you have a gun on you all you have to do is shoot the intruder thus saving your family. The average response time for police to arrive at your home is about six minutes, and a lot can happen within those six minutes. Sometimes depending where you live if you live in the country side a beer or wolf may break into your home to look for some food, you see this and don’t want your family to get hurt so if you have a gun you wouldn’t have a problem. You can also teach your children the importance and safety of gun control and handling that way when they are home alone they would have no problem defending themselves.

Even more, the country of Switzerland requires its citizens to own firearms and they have the lowest homicide level in the entire world. Two leaders, Joseph Stalin and Mao Zedong, took the guns away from their people; they both ended up killing twenty million people. Most guns should be legal because they protect citizens against crime and governmental tyranny, bolster individual freedom, and reduce crime. Having the right to own guns protects the citizens against crime and governmental tyranny.
