Gun Control In The Second Amendment

Have you ever felt frightened and defenseless? You recognize, that feeling you get when you 're walking through a tough division of the town entirely and you realize that your phone just went bad and there 's no one around to hear you yell if something went on? Now imagine feeling that way everywhere you live, all of the time. This is the reality that we United States citizens would be living in if our government were to implement total gun control.

Today I will be talking about one of the Amendments that I choose and it was the second amendment. The second amendment is “The Right To Keep and Bear Arms” I will give you three reasons on this to make you choose that there should be the second amendment. My reasons are self defense,hunting and practicing. Let 's start with my first reason Self Defense. What I mean by this is that you can defend yourself if you need to in a bad situation.

Sandy Hook: December 14, 2012; 28 deaths. Pulse Nightclub: June 12, 2016; 50 deaths. Las Vegas Shooting: October 1, 2017; 59 deaths. Texas Church Shooting: November 5, 2017; 26 deaths. They all have one thing that links them all together: gun violence.

According to the LA Times report on the Gardena Police Department shooting, this is what happen: The grainy videos, captured by cameras mounted in two patrol cars, show three men mistakenly suspected of stealing a bicycle standing in a street under the glare of police lights. With their weapons trained on the men, officers scream at them to keep their hands up. While two of the men in the videos remain motionless, Diaz Zeferino appears confused by the officers’ instructions. He drops and raises his arms repeatedly, showing the officers his hands and stepping backward

The articles I chose to compare and contrast were, “Scrutinizing the Second Amendment” by Adam Winkler and “Nothing to debate: Second Amendment, legal gun in my purse saved our lives” by Lynne Russell. While there was not much to compare, aside from the articles both relating to the Second Amendment, it was quite obvious that one article was strictly opinionated, while the other was a solid analysis. In Russell’s article, she describes an event that occurred when she and her husband were traveling across the United States. They stopped at a motel for the evening and were ambushed by a deranged, armed man inside their motel room.

Making banning assault weapons for "power" would be pointless for many hunting rifles have the same if not more powerful ammunition. Hunting rifles are able to pack more power making them equally if not more deadly that assault weapons. Banning assault weapons would not change anything for the criminals would move on to hunting rifles as they have more powerful capability. Critics argue that by banning assault weapons and putting a capacity on magazines that it would be as if you are limiting what you can protect yourself with. For example, if a man or woman is attacked and has only one magazine to protect themselves it could leave them with out a firearm to defend themselves.

Gun control in the United States is a history of discrimination which is still continuing today. Gun control is a measure to reduce crimes. The crimes are mainly caused by the African-American. The first and foremost gun legislation for restricting the guns is the Pre-Revolution South. The primary aim is making the firearms away from the blacks and also to make a white monopoly on power.

Gun laws give too much power to the government and way less from the people, which will lead to government corruption. And, stated by ClearPictureOnline.com,”Guns don 't kill people, people do. We need to concentrate on the values and morals of our citizens and at the role the media plays in glorifying violence and the lack of respect for law.” (Shootout: Do We Need More Gun Control Regulations?) What people don 't understand is that they are taking away their own freedoms with Gun Control.

Guns in the United States need to be regulated to a certain extent, but should also allow law abiding citizen to protect themselves from criminals who never follow the laws. To inform you, gun control is the laws or policies that regulate the sales, modification, possession, and other aspects of the use of firearms. According to Wikipedia, “875 million small arms are distributed amongst civilians,” and “U.S civilians alone account for 270 million of this total” (Gun Control). With this being stated, it means that United States civilians hold 30% of all guns throughout the world. There’s no point in banning all sorts of guns at this point in time and everyone should know how to use this “self-defence” weapon efficiently. You can place a gun, a knife or a bat all side by side, none of them are going to do anything until someone picks them up to use them! The tragic shooting at Newtown reminded us not only of the need for gun control but also mental health support. From the day each individual graduates from this seven-day training period, every child will be required to carry assault rifles at all times of the day, whether it be in school, at the mall, or at home, in order to ensure the best protection. However, I am not an unreasonable person.

This makes us wonder why people can be so defensive over something like a gun that is so dangerous and has lead to a lot of deaths in the American society. Gun control is essential in our society today because it will help prevent unnecessary shootings and crime rate Gun control will play a major part in the decrease of the crime and murder rate. Therefore, in my point of view, guns should be totally controlled and regulated by the government. If gun ownership is controlled by the government, only a limited number of people will be allowed to own guns. In addition, the regulations will make it difficult for people to access guns unless they have a concrete reason as to why they need the weapon.

Gun control also limits our constitutionally derived right to own firearms. If gun control is enforced, law-abiding citizens will be forced to give up their guns and their right to own guns, while many criminals who own guns may illegally keep theirs. As the saying goes “If guns are outlawed, only outlaws will have guns.” Guns are an important aspect of our society in many ways. They allow for protection, recreation, and hunting.

Guns can have many positive uses it is up to people to decide how they are used. There are many reasons why Gun control laws are questionable. The United States Constitution was created to establish American national government and give basic rights to citizens. The second Amendment of the U.S constitution states “The Right the people to keep and bear Arms shall not be infringed. " Are forefathers believed we should be able to protect ourselves?
