School is a place to have discipline and become well educated. Schools are community institutions as well as centers of learning. No violence should be consumed nor acted in school. Government and private schools are responsible for the safety of their students during school hours. Teachers should be well trained and well-supported. Private and public schools ensure parents that their children will be provided with a safety staff, and safe surroundings. No child shall be put at risk of being in danger. Therefore, children who take guns or any weapon to school should be expelled.
If a child has taken a gun or any weapon to school, how are we guarantee it will not happen again? They can plan a better attach, be smarter about it next time and not get caught twice. If a weapon is taken to school there has to be intentions of hurting someone. Everyone knows how harmful a gun is and the harm it can do. There cannot be any good intentions in taking a weapon to school. If actions are not taking place immediately in this situation we can lose lives. At any moment should a child nor a teacher’s life be put at risk. Students should be, and feel safe at school. It will be irresponsible for the principle of that school not to expel the student. Therefore a students who takes gun or any weapon to school should be expelled.

The decision could affect the child in many ways such as, being considered as a criminal for life, or dragging them to commit suicide for being blamed, and picked on for taking a gun to school. The student could have had mental issues and not be aware of the harm they can cause. The gun could have been taken to school to consider themselves cool in front of their friends. Not many think twice about the actions they do, it happens to everyone. Children are learning from life. We all learn from our mistakes, and know not to commit them twice. Not necessarily the intentions of taking a gun to school could be to harm
Also, according to www.debate.org, they said, “What if children are too scared to go to school, because of guns?” Well, there's no telling how students will truly react to guns at school, until it is tried. But, this point is true. Kids may not feel safe knowing that teachers are armed, and they may feel like one of the teachers has it out for them, or that they do not trust the teachers to have guns around them. This would decrease the amount of children in school and cause a serious loss in learning in children.
Students today live their day-to-day lives in constant fear of what seems inevitable. The United States has one of the highests rates of school shootings in the world. Society has become so desensitized to these shootings that they are no longer shocked to hear about another school falling victim to it. Even when students take a stand against gun violence, the only solution offered to them is a proposition to arm teachers. However, bringing more guns into a school will only further deteriorate the situation.
In the past twenty years there has been a dramatic increase in school shootings and the number of victims is getting higher. That is why I believe that teachers should be allowed to carry a gun if they pass a series of tests for safety and they are mentally stable; most of the school shootings could have probably been stopped or limit the number of casualties; some people might not think about doing a school shooting if they know that teachers have guns to. I believe that teachers should be allowed to carry a gun if they can pass a series of safety tests and they are mentally stable. “The number of U.S school shootings in 2015 is at 52, with 30 people killed and 53 others injured.
It is dangerous to have guns in schools because you can have kids fighting or arguing and then you go to turn around you see someone pulling out a gun to shoot at another student. They can also be playing with the gun thinking its a toy. For example, the parents of the child who brought the gun to school is defending him, saying that the boy found the gun on a bed at home and was trying to keep it away from his 3
Violent criminals know that currently schools are gun free zones, and can use this factor to their advantage. Rather than falling victim to an attack on the school; teachers could protect themselves and their students. Students could feel much safer if their teacher was armed. Students would feel more safe if they knew they could be protected from an attack from an intruder or another student. Criminals know that teachers currently are not armed and could potentially see schools as a target.
American homes and streets are plagued with guns we keep under our beds in our closet or take them with us everywhere we go. It is disturbingly easy for someone to pick up a gun and fire their anger into their school, the place they
This should not be a worry for the child or parents but it has to be because at this point any school is a threat. So a possible factor in decreasing shootings is arming teachers, by doing this teachers can fight back instead of shielding or running from the shooter. Reason #2 teachers can defend their students by changing this law and using correct training teachers should be able to carry a weapon. By doing this not only insure safety it will give relief for parents all over the country. This tactic will give school staffs a chance to outnumber a possible shooter.
Gun Violence and Mental Health: Teachers and Staff Should Not Carry Guns in Schools When people started shooting students and staff at schools nobody knew what to do, but they knew that a change needed to be made. With all of the tragedies that keep happening in school campuses there is a debate on what that changes should be. Some say that teachers and staff should have guns in school premises to protect students from an intruder and prevent another horrible incident like the Columbine, Sandy Hook, and many others. Others say that teachers packing heat is a bad idea and that we should be looking at mental health a little closer.
Over the past few weeks, arming teachers has been a controversial topic throughout the country. School shootings have taken the lives of many over the past few years, yet they are becoming more and more frequent. In today’s society children shouldn’t have to go to school worried if they are going to be safe that day. If teachers are armed it will add that extra bit of protection to the children. A big question is if arming teachers is even going to matter if an active shooter happens to be in that school.
These weapons would only be allowed in the student’s car or in other designated areas. This at least allows students to feel safe when walking home or driving to off-campus
However, for some people, the sight of an open gun will not make them feel safe and uneasy. By allowing open carry, you are ensuring trust amongst your peers and those around you to protect you with your life; however, relying on a stranger to protect your life is a gamble and one that several people are not will to make. Finally, open carry on school campuses will lead to more violence. As reported in various school shootings, such the shooting in Albemarle High School in North Carolina on September 2014, some shootings were caused by arguments between two students. The incident, and several others public shooting incidents, would have been avoided if the shooter did not have a weapon on his person and if the country had more strict gun control laws.
“When the most innocent, elementary school children, are the victims it feels even more tragic” (Koone, 2014, p. 165). During the year 1994 an act was passed. The act was known as the Gun free school act. This act imposed that a federal requirement for one year; stating expulsion from school.
For this reason, security professionals believe that arming students shoot back would actually make matters worse in the extremely rare instances where mass shootings occur on campus.” This can create a bigger problem than the one before. Such accidental shootings are not accountable for which leaves families of innocent victims upset and frustrated because justice is never served. According to The Campaign to Keep Guns off Campus “Despite the horrific shootings at Virginia Tech and Northern Illinois, college campuses are far safer than the communities that surround them. Ninety three percent of the violence against college students occurs off campus, where guns are widely available.
Hypothetically, a law is passed stating that teachers are allowed to carry guns in school. In a sick twisted world, the teacher becomes the school shooter. Your student is in class and their teacher pulls out their government funded school weapon and starts shooting. How is your child supposed to protect themselves if the approved district teacher starts shooting the students with a malicious intent. Teachers should not be allowed to carry guns at school.
Guns have no role in our country schools. Schools and colleges are places of education. Students should be free to learn in an environment away from every day violence. The catastrophes that took place at Sandy Hook Elementary School, Columbine High School, and Virginia Tech. confirm the penetrating conclusion guns have in our nation’s schools. Violence on campus has Students, Parent, and University Staff all concerned and looking for preventative measures.
